Ok first of all I just want to tell you that this isn't supposed to be the best story but I am just a kid with an imagination so here goes.

Chapter 1: No man's Land

Guri walked up the big mountain, holding on to the hope that his wife would be safe. The group whom he was working for, the Blades of Mercia had held his wife captive, and he had to be their scout on their journey into Morak. Guri was an ex-spy for Mercia, he had been sent on many missions into Nagast but he had to go into hiding when Mercia's king tried to kill him.

But those were the things of the past, right now he was in no man's land working for a bunch of pysycos who thought that they could survive the place with only a handfull of soldiers. He had to use his skill to find out if there were any threats on the mountain, if he didn't return in 20 minutes, the group would think he was dead, and his wife would face the same fate. When he was almost sure that there was nothing on the mountain he saw a body, but not just one, there were dozens of Ork bodies scattered on the floor, the stench didn't make the sight look any better.

"God damn. Who could have done such a thing."

Some of the Orks were still breathing, barely. He approached one of the Orks, he had to indentify what he was dealing with. The wounds on the Ork were still fresh, he was breathing very heavily.

"Who did this to you?"

The Ork opened its mouth to speak but the only thing that came out was air. It lifted its fat hand and pointed towards the other side of the mountain.

Guri grabbed his dagger and walked alowly, after just a few seconds he could hear steel on steel and battle cries. His walk became a run which became a sprint.

He looked off the cliff and saw a group of Orks trying to fight something that he couldn't see to well. He looked closer and recognized the beast. It was a devil, a rare sight but what was even rarer is that there was another one, they were together.

*smiles* hey, that's pretty good. I like the set up with the captive wife, you manage to convey a sense of urgency for the central character.

If I had one very minor criticism of it, it would be it's length. I think it would have benefited from another few hundred words ( a couple more paragraphs) just to flesh it out a bit.

But like I say, that's a very minor criticism, and the story works well.

I'm interested to see where you take it.

I agree with the above poster, good character motivation. It's not one of those typical 'wanderer who stumbled upon..." scenarios.

In other words, good start and keep it up.

Note: This story takes like 20 years after Darkfall so some things have changed in Agon.

Chapter 2: Night in the mountain.

Guri watched the orks get helplessly slautered by the immortal demons. He remembered the last time he had encountered a devil, it was 10 years ago.

He was returning from Nagast with information about a new spell they had discovered, he was in a Mercian swamp when the devil jumped down from a tree, trying to get it's last kill before going back to the place it came from. Luckily it cam to late and its time on the surface was over. The devils only had a limited time to cause destruction before it left, you could tell how long it had been on the surface by how much fire was on its head.

But these devils' were fresh from hell, it looked like they had only been here for a few days. Guri hurried back to the camp to warn the Blades of Mercia that there was danger. He ran a little too fast that he forgot the Ork that lay nearby. He killed the Orks with his dagger to put them out of their misery.

"No need to thank me fellas."

He ran down the mountain, continuosly looking back to make sure that the devils weren't following him, even though he knew they weren't. The wind got stronger as the sun got lower. It was almost night, a devil's favorite time to kill.

After a few minutes he saw the camp, the men were laughing and the leader, Galaut, was checking the weapons. Galaut looked up and saw Guri.

"There are Devils in the mountains! We must go back, or they will track us down."

Everyone grew silent, and the camp exploded in laughter.

Galaut smiled.

"If we don't find that treasure, i will kill your wife. Your little stories won't make us turn back. Everyone knows that Devils no longer visit our land, they are all dead."

"Well you're wrong. I saw them with my own eyes, two of them."

A man from the camp got up and grabbed his hammer, he ran at Guri, intending to crack his head open. As the barbarian got closer an arrow came down on him and struck him in the head. Warm blood splattered Guri's face, some went inside his eye.

When he could see, he saw Galaut standing with a bow and arrow, impressed by his own ability.

"If we are to find the Dragon's treasure, we must keep him alive.''

Guri didn't sleep in the camp that night, knowing that the Devils would much rather kill the group of idiots than kill him. He snuck away from the camp and slept iside the mountain, where he was safe. He kept a sword beside him, just incase, he also had his handy dagger.

After an hour of staring at the hard rock on top of him, he dozed off.

Chapter 3: Facing your demons
Guri woke up to the sound of battle. He got up and grabbed the sword, the devils were here. He heard screams coming from the men. Then he heard Galaut's voice.

"Run. This way me..."

His voice was interupted by the growl of the devil and the sounds of flesh ripping apart.

"I told them to leave."

It got quiet and Guri assumed the battle was over. He clutched the sword tighter than ever.

"They are all dead. I can get my wife back now."

Guri took a step towards the cave entrance but a split second later there was a devil standing there. It was covered in blood and was staring right at Guri, it wiped the blood from its face and came closer to Guri. He recognised it immediately, it was the same devil that attacked him last time.

"Hee..here to finish the job..."

Guri pointed the sword at the devil, hoping that it would just leave, but it just smiled and some how brought a sword into existince. Guri swang his sword at it but the monster quickly blocked it.

The sword disappears as fast as it came. The face of the devil showed discust.

"Pathetic", It said in a shadowy voice.

Guri grabbed his dagger in his other hand, he had a plan. Guri swang the sword at the demon who quickly grabbed his arm, while the demon was distracted Guri thrusted the dagger into its neck. He expected blood to come squirting out but instead a flame came out of its neck.

The beast growled, turned around and ran. Huge red wings came out the devils back, it flew through the cave's ceiling, with fire still spraying out of its body.

"I did it. I hope it is dead."

Chapter 4: Journey Back

Guri slowly walks out of the mountain. The Devils are gone, hopefully dead. He walks back to the camp, to see if anyone survived. The camp is completely destoryed, bodies are scattered across the dirt and there is an unpleasent smell in the air.

He hears a noice, like someone was throwing up, one of the bodies move, Guri advances towards it. The person is not recognizable but the man begins to speak.

"Guri,.. take me back to my father. We must abort the mission."

Guri recognizes the voice, it is Galaut. He almost laughed, he warned the fools that they had to go, but Galaut got them all killed. He shakes his head in disgust and reaches for his dagger. He smiled at Galauts terrified face and puts the dagger over his disfigured face.

"No Guri... my father's men will find you.. you and your wife will di....."

Guri stabbed the dagger right into Galauts eye and feels his skull pop. He doesn't want anyone to find the bodies so he takes the dagger out of the dead man's head. One by one he puts them into the forest, leaving them for the wolves.

He returns to the back, takes as much as food he can and begins his journey to rescue his love.

I'd suggest saying (for example) "walked" instead of "walks" in some instances, it makes it seem like a summary of the story rather than the story being told from a third-person perspective. Other than that, I'm quite enjoying this story.

Chapter 5: Mercian Soil

He had been traveling for days and he was at the border of Mercia and Morak, a major hotspot. But at this time everyone had returned to there camps and everything died down.

He was tired and he was almost out of food, if he didn't get to Mercia soon he would probably die of starvation. He pushed himself to get as far as possible because he knew that as soon as the sun was up the Orks would kill every human in sight.

There was a river nearby, it was called the River of Auros as the lake it linked off of was near Sanguine and the river went all the way into Dvergheim so Guri decided not to drink as no one knows what the Orks put in it to kill any thristy human.

He walked for another hour or so and decided to stop only when the river got stronger, telling him that he was in Mercia. One step closer to the the fortress where his wife was. He saw a ledge coming out of a huge rock that was taller and wider then himself. He crawled under it and tried his hardest to fall asleep.

Chapter 6: Battle (catchy eh?)

Guri woke up early to get closer to the fortress as soon as possible even though they were expecting the group to return in a few months. He came out from under the ledge and stretched. He walked to the edge of the small mountain to try and see what was awaiting him up the road.

Right under his sight were 3 humans with there shields in the faces of three giant Orks.

"Another battle."

One of the orks threw an axe at the fathest human and it hit him in the shoulder. He fell to the ground as one of his partners advance towards the Ork only to be hooked in the face with a hammer of another Ork. The human on the ground was visited by the Ork with the axe who pulled the axe out of his soft flesh, making him suffer as much as possible.

The last man stepped back wards. Another Ork charged the remaining man who swang his sword at the Orks chest, ripping open its neck. Blood spilled out of the Orks neck as his face pailed and all the air in his body escaped his body through his open neck.

The final Ork came moved closer to his opponent and when the man attacked the Ork the hit the sword with his hammer with all his might, leaving the sword in two. The human raised the shield to his face and pulled out a dagger. The Ork laughed and pushed the shield with his foot, sending the human backwards.

The Mercian was several feet away from the Ork now so he used it to his advantage and threw the dagger at it,. It hit the Ork in the thigh and it tried to pull the dagger out. The Mercian dropped his shield and grabbed a bow from his back. He strung an arrow and aimed it at the Ork who took the dagger out and was trying to get back on its feet.

He released and hit the Ork in the head, killing it. The Ork kneeling beside the fallen warror paid no attention however and was just about to kill the man on the ground. The Mercian shot the arrow through the side of its head, it went in from one side and came out the other.

"Its over.", said Guri.

He was about to slowly come down and greet the young warrior when another Ork came running from the side with no weapon. His clothes were ragged and he looked as if he had fallen off a mountain and had somehow survived. The Mercian didn't have much arrows left but didn't look afraid. He strung another arrow and shot at the Ork but he missed.

The Ork went to the warrior on the ground and grabbed the axe, the mercian resisted but the Ork slashed him across the face. The remaining Human took his last arrow and aimed it properly this time, the dieing Ork looked at him with no fear. The flung the axe at him and the shock of the throw scared the human causing him to release the arrow and it threw off his aim.

The axe hit him in the stomach vertically while the arrow cut through the Orks chest when it was supposed to go to his head.
