This may have been mentioned already, but what Ive read is distances over the world will take hours to transverse. So what are the chances of really getting ganked by certain people.

I'm sure there is going to be a few people of the same race who are going to kill anyone they see, but say you're a dwarf, what are the chances of being ganked by a group of Mahirim players? I keep reading in the Clan Forums about clans planning to kill all and the same crap. Its gonna be, what, a few months for them to even gain enough influence/power to travel to actually attack anyone not of the same race?

I know there has been no mention of how many servers there are going to be, but what are the chances?

Pretty high i would estimate. I'm sure people are willing to go to extraodinary lengths just to hunt Mirdain

it all depends where certain clans will settle down

territorial warfare is the key word here

Well each race does receive a starting area. So if you really wanted to go on a holy crusade against Alfar you just find the quickest route to Nagast and go hunt some Alfys. If you mean guild/clan specific well then you need to dig around a little deeper. Depending on how interactive the map will be (meaning will you be able to see who controls what even if its on the others side of the continent) it will be easier or harder.
If you mean a grudge between two players (say because of a forumfall dispute), well something that small scale will probably have to be coordinated.

From what I've read, I think it's going to be balanced fairly well. There will no doubt be PvP encounters but I really don't see gank fests occurring too often. Once a person takes out someone, they're probably going to want to leave the area because they don't know if they're calling reinforcements or not. It's going to be dangerous to run around ganking people in Darkfall, it will take organization on both sides.

I said the same thing, but over time there will be outposts and houses built all around the world, and outposts/houses mean storage.

True but building a house in another races/guilds area will be extremely dangerous and no doubt have serious repercussions.

It depends how binding works. When the game is first out I don't see it being a problem. But with a 10,000 player max im sure there will be tons and tons of pvp. Then when guilds start to conquer land moving around binds etc... it will be very common.

if i'm not mistaken, combat between two guilds that declare war on each other is the same as combat between opposing factions.

So even though there may be a fair period of time between when the human guilds are colonising areas near the tribelands or vise-versa, there will still be pvp happening between rival guilds of the same race from the beginning i'd imagine

That's sounds way light to me. There are 199k+ people signed up on the boards here, it seems they'll need several?

If you are a dwarf and get killed by some mahirims IT IS NOT GANGING NOR GRIEFING this game is based on racial warfare.

Very slim, thankfully. Hopefully we won't have too many revenge killings. If there's one thing I hate about most MMORPGs with anywhere PVP, it's revenge killings. They seem to think you've wronged them on a personal level, where truly, it is simply business.

The answer entirely depends on where you go obviously. Certain places have certain mobs, certain places have certain matierials, guild houses, guild shops/stores, whatever.

Obviously if your going to the largest merchant that only sells the best wares, your gankability quotient(TM) is higher than if your visiting the local poison goon.

I agree with both Reaper and Wreatch on this, in the beginning people are going to be too spread out for chance encounters, and most guilds are going to take a little while to really establish themselves. Sure people are going to go out looking for each other but what if someone is just trying to get from point a to point b and sell goods, then they're just looking for the quickest/safest route. Again, the more people that it'll be harder to find a fast way that doesn't get camped. On the other hand, considering DF is kind of in a small niche, that might take awhile, and then you take into account it may not be cost effective to wander around nigh aimlessly looking for a fight.

Ganking will happen in any high traffic area and race wil have nothing to do with it.

Learn from past FFA games.

This makes the game fun. Revenge is always sweet.

In Shadowbane on the server I played at start there was quite a bit of ganking. Then slowly people learned that the dominate nation reflected poorly upon this practice and things quickly changed.

'Business' is the worst kind of personal level.

In most games people tend to find specific spots to be at. In a few games this spot has been called Xroads for example. Alot of us have relation to that. Xroads were in both DAoC and UO, possible more.

So I believe with active people / known PVP'ers it would be possible. But it will be hard finding specific people w/o intelligence I think.

Well I actually dont foresee alot of action in terms of Race vs Race at the very beginning, unless an opposing races capitol isnt very far from your own. Actually if you think about it...
6 races, roughly 8 hours to travel to the other side of the world, that leaves each race roughly 1.3 hours traveling distance away from another if all are evenly spread apart. Youll run into apposing races more then I thought...
