If you apply for the beta, either for yourself or for the clan, will the DF folks tell you one way or the other if you got in?

Also, roughly how long does it take for them to notify you?

They will let you know if you get in, but probably not if you don't.

If you are accepted, yes they will tell you. As for how long until you know, that hasn't been communicated. When you get the invite, you will know.

they will not give you a heads up if you have been invited into beta, since that will mean that nobody knows if they're invited into beta, and so nobody will play beta! :bang:

I don't really know how the whining could possibly get much worse than it is now... haha. People on these forums whine no matter what you're talking about.

Getting into Beta used to really matter. Sure it would be nice to get in and do some scouting for your clan before the public.

But the game is scheduled to hit store shevles in less than three months. After waiting years, Does it honestly really matter anymore?

Like I read somewhere "I read it all :)", they have paid testers. So most probably the beta will act as a stress test instead. If indeed they want a stress test, why not let all Darkfall forum users get an invite. Would be impressive and realy show they like us ;) ;)

Whenever they start sending out beta letters of acceptance (SOON! PLZ!!! :p) You'll know if you got in and they'll most likely have a news post saying that they did and which wave they're on.

Many MMOs send out invitation in waves depending on their criterias until a final wave for stress testing.

Nope they are gonna give you the beta account, but then never tell you and it will sit there unplayed until release! rofl..

That is SOOOoooo true! Believe me it can get much worse. I have been in a few beta's and there is ALWAYS much whining and gnashing of teeth.

Not to mention very creative whining as well.

My clan and i got accepted, but at the time (2005) I was having life issues at the time. As such, I handed over the info to another member of my clan. I can't get a hold of him and I want to play. Is there a way to get the information? I tried emailing but have not received a response yet.

I don't believe there had been any acceptations as of yet. It's just sending application for beta and hoping it'll be soon.

maybe it was 2006, i can't remember off the top of my head, but I'm certain it was 2005. Anyway, we got accepted, I told the person who contacted me to contact a clan member of mine and we had like 10 slots.

I just can't remember what the information is. When I get home, I can post the original email if you'd all like.

as of October 2007 there was not beta yet, so who the hell knows when it will actually start. I just know my clan and I got in.

Well they don't reject anyone I think. They have a weighted random system. And, if you get picked you're in. If not, then you're not rejected, just in the pool of those who haven't been invited yet.

So they did send out acceptances already and previously? That's great, I guess. However, it means that the actual beta playing will still be for a while...However, they say release 2008 and also in the trailer so wouldn't the beta have to be soon?

Nice letter. Was indeed the one sent out for the original clan beta sign ups in 2005. But then they scrapped clan beta because they did not want to take dev time away from making the game to run the beta.

So, sadly.. your not really accepted into anything honestly. Just use your clan name from then when you apply for beta this time. (thats what the field is for).

@SedareAoelius: The fact that the e-mail was from Razoewax and not Aventurine makes it null and void.

OT: They will probably send out invitations when the Beta starts. Until then the sign-up will continue.

On a more concrete note: You really can't process applications while more are coming in. Thus, when the option to sign up for beta disappears it will probably be two to three business days until the invites go out.

beta began early 2005ish.. however this is an "internal" beta, as per the devs words..


there were beta sign ups in 2005 for guilds... no player or guild has been invited to play darkfall yet, unless they are friends of the devs anyways.

so yes there have been sign ups before.. and no , no one got email acceptances from it that the public knows of.

Well personally I've been waiting as long as anyone else who did sign up so it's really nothing to do.
But what do worry me is that they'll start sending out the invitations while I'm in China... Somehow I would laugh if that would happen.
But as many have said, nothing to do but to wait patiently ;)

Hmm, 512mb RAM, and a 3.2Ghz dual-core, which is ok when it was bought, but runs badly, now that I have viruses on it.
Viruses can slow down your computer, and I think my BIOS was modified when my electrical-lines got zapped during a thunderstorm.

The Questionnaire on which other games I have played was rather non-comprehensive. I have played at least 50 free MMORPGs (100 counting the browser-based ones), and beta-tested (or alpha-tested) at least 20 online games (not all MMORPGs, but all were multiplayer). However, the Questionnaire only included retail MMOs.
Therefore, I feel that Developers are looking for applicants who contribute to forum-discussions a lot :)

Thank you, but I meant that my specs are lacking. Not that I lack specs.

Also, DxDiag(nosis) did not work on my MacBook :) I am assuming the release is not going to be compatible with the Mac OS... But I'm finding a way to configure the Windows emulator to connect to wireless (so that I do not have to use ethernet ports to play). As regards to wireless (airport scanning) on XP - it looks like I have to pay $120, or suffer.

I have just realized - I take wireless internet for-granted.
