I know one or two gals that can talk politics/philosophy but they are uncommon enough I agree. Most of the lads I know enjoy a good political banter when it arises, among other things. Nothing beats an intelligent, somewhat serious conversation - talk can't just revolve around the trivial, everyday things, it just CAN'T! I'd die of boredom! :p

The greatest ill that afflicts political threads here is those posters who don't really know very much, but insistently act as if they do by making ultimately vague, boilerplate allegations that are riddled with vulgarisms. Angrily asserting that the two parties are the same, tilting unthinkingly at, "greed," endlessly ranting without much analysis or thoughta gainst socialism and generally emitting any sort of short, dime-store aphorism without any kind of accompanying through is badly detrimental to any political thread.
