No poll. There are so many good frontmen it would be hard to list just 15. So, what say you ForumFall!? Who is the best frontman of all time?

I say Freddie Mercury. He had an amazing voice and a great stage presence.

Best vocal range of any rock singer. Not a huge Queen fan, but gotta respect that talent.

Sort of a frontman, but deserves a spot on the list for his hair. (http://www.philmages.com/08%20Classic%20Rock%20Concerts/Kansas/KAN03%20Robby%20Steinhardt.JPG)

Robby Steinhardt

from Wikipedia,

...and undeniably had the best hair that the music industry - nay, the world - has ever seen.

Kansas. As soon as I saw the picture I could tell. Looks like they are playing Dust In the Wind in that picture. He has the violin ready.

I believe this one works.

Jackson Browne.

Not exactly for intense performances, but for soothingly truthful songs.

There is no best frontman :P.

Peter Gabriel comes to mind though, and a lot of others.

Morrison. He pretty much invented the crazy rocker stereotype with his on-stage presence and moves. He honestly climbed up the curtains of theatres and sung from the rafters and crazy shit like that. Completely unchoreographed chaos, amid random insertions of his poetry into the middle of songs. Brilliant!

I like more the people in the back producing music with their instruments than the guy in the front screaming.

I guess you'd have a point if all music were Death metal.

Amy Lee or Joan Jett ftw.

If not thennnn... Hmm...

I'm gonna have to go with...

Best frontwoman is Lynn Breedlove of Tribe 8, imo.

I take back my last statement, and I vote Feist as the best frontwoman.

I don't think most of you get what a frontman is. It's more than just someone who can sing, there's been many good ones that are not even singers. You have to have showmanship as well.

The king of them all has to be "Diamond" David Lee Roth.

Or Thom Yorke outta Radiohead. Live hes fucking amazing, gets so into it.

i'd go for Eddie Vedder, way back in the day, when they played fucking hard.so much energy back then.man i miss em like that.Same for Cornell, way back when he could hit jesus christ pose without a worry in the world.

van morrison in the 70's was fantastic, espcially the '71 caledonia orchestra.

Morrison or Roth. Most these other choices you are picking are because of their ability to sing. That's not what a frontman does. A frontman is someone who can make a band that sounds like total shit be totally kick ass. Luckily for my 2 choices both their bands rocked anyway.

Oh man, leave it to clowny to not make any sense.

Anyway, a frontman is someone who represents and/or embodies a band, period. They are the face and voice of the band.

QFT

I consider it fact that Freddy Mercury had the greatest vocal range of any male vocalist EVAR.

Mike Patton gets honorable mention too.
