I’m trying to pin down the exact definition from context, but I’m getting allot of conflicting ideas. Id seems that everyone has their own definition of a carebear, why don’t you post you’re definition here and we’ll see if we can get a consensus

To me a care bear is a person that is afraid to lose their stuff in a full loot game.

Generally, a carebear is someone who does not participate in the PvP environment or dislikes the elements of basic PvP (loot, dying and losing your stuff, etc). That's my definition at least.

*shrugs* I dunno. It was always connected with trammel for me. People who want their game to be sanitised.

Carebear - Someone playing a PvP game and hiding in the PvE content of the game running or hiding whenever someone wants to or trys to kill them. Openly Speaks out against PvP players or the Idea of it and whines a lot.

The first definition of carebear i got was "someone who is bad a PvP"
Yet I've come to decide I dislike that definition, because then I'm a carebear, and decided its someone who is afraid of PvP.
Therefore I am an ex-carebear because I would not PvP because i was afraid of losing my loot, then I joined ShadowBane and had fun.
Still bad at PvP though, at least I'm no pansy carebear.....

On these forums, carebear is a generic insult.

In-game, it generally refers to people who don't want PvP to interfere with their gaming experience.

Someone who cries over lost pixels.

a carebear is a trammie. a trammie is someone who avoids pvp at all costs since they don't want to lose all that sweet pixel crack they just bought off ebay. they spend their time banksitting or crafting, and they complain about games that have full loot and ffa pvp, which confuses me b/c they could just go play games that DON'T have those things.

if you've played WoW before, about 98% of the players you'll see are carebears, the rest have somehow been brainwashing into playing a game that was created for carebears, by carebears.

The best thing about WoW is they brought alot of new MMO players into the market.

The downside to it is those new players only understand that model of character advancement, and cannot fathom how a full loot pvp game could be possible.

A carebear is someone who would rather lend a helping hand instead of kicking you while you're down. ie: Jesus is a carebear.

The best thing about WoW is they brought alot of new MMO players into the market.

I've always played FPS games and was never really interested in anything else, I didn't even know what an MMO was or that they existed until I played WoW. Full loot pvp is a great draw, but the FPS required in Darkfall is even greater for me. It's a shame that Darkfall and Huxley always seem like they'll release 'soon.'

carebear-gets things nerfed by whining,of core pvp mechanics.

That pretty much sums it up. Carebears think that game mechanics are slanted against them. Rather than changing their playing stile they cry to get things changed.

Personally I see a carebear as a person who doesn't like risks. I called the people who supoorted Universal Banks to be possible carebear candidates for instance. *Usually* carebears dont' like PvP, but there are some who enjoy it, like WoW dueling. But they don't like risks where they could lose their hard earned equipment. Basically they are people who like to be protected at all times.

See WoW for an example (the entire player base qualifies).

That said, Carebear is a derogatory term for MMO players who avoid PVP (and all other forms of risk) as much as they possibly can, and on the rare occasions they interact with PVPers or are forced to participate in PVP they whine. In fact to expand on this, players who once you kill them begin to whine can also be considered carebears.
