Tough choice: AC/DC, ZZ top, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and GNR.
But i grew up on Deep Purple so I voted for them

Seriously, what's with all the circle jerking to classic rock... Not a single band on that list was prominent post-80's except Pearl Jam. This is not to say that none of those bands mentioned are good, but seriously, ZZ Top! They're hardly the apex of music. Plus, where the fuck is mah Velvet Underground! There is more to the 60's and 70's than hard rock and progressive.

-No Punk
-No Metal (It's still a sub-genre of rock, I see no reason to exclude it.)
-No Bands from any country other than English speaking countries, so you forgot the Krautrock-era (Can, Neu!, Faust, and to an extent Kraftwerk.) and other prominent scenes.
-No Bowie or Queen...:( that makes me a sad panda...
-No relatively modern bands. I wouldn't mind if this thread was Classic Rock Bands The Best of The Best.
