Anyone playing it? I'm installing now, what are your impressions of it? I've heard it's a bit buggy, but the recent 1.5.04 patch fixes it pretty well, can't wait for the mods either, I'm thinking about buying warhead too.

It is a bit buggy, I play for about an hour then it crashes, and the bug report program seems to be bugged also....

That aside It's a pretty decent game, don't try and go running around blasting shit up like you would in Half Life 2 though. You'll get pwnt... at least until you manage to get an assault rifle.

It's really not that bad of a game.

Had loads of fun with the original STALKER. Using the environment is a must. Never had so much fun since Operation Flashpoint.

Clear Sky is great. One of the things that I don't often hear is how amazing the graphics are. They look better than the Source engine yet things like dynamic lighting/HDR are far more optimized in Clear Sky. I've only crashed once (out of about 8/9 hours of play) and that was probably b/c of a sound bug. When a lot of sounds are happening at one time, it could crash, but that's true of most games.

It's also $40 instead of $50, which is nice. I'd recommend buying it.

I'm playing it. It's great. However I am a bit disappointed that there are so few factions to join. So far I haven't encountered a single bug, I think, with the newest patch installed.

How's the multiplayer?

Stalker is designed as SP....

But i bet the multiplayer is the same as the original, havent tried Clear Sky yet because im worried of DRM.

*snickers* Nice to see that our message got out about SecuROM, clear sky apparently uses it as well.

I was basically forced to beat the game last night, (playing on master), because I crossed the point of no return. The game pretty much sucks once you cross into Limansk but everything before hand is top-notch. Most of the bugs happened once you crossed in Limansk too actually... Don't get me wrong, the combat there is great and it's challenging, but you can't go back to finish faction stuff or change your gear and they don't warn you. After I finished the game, I reverted to a save prior to Limansk and started just having fun in the zone doing faction stuff, looking for flash drives, hunting down anomalies, and stockpiling equipment. I can't wait for the mods to start rolling out cause I want to be able to play to the end of the game to get some really nice weapons and bring them back to the factions.

I never played the first one and have only played about an hour into this one so far. I really have no clue what is going on. I'll walk around the swamp to different objectives and all of the sudden my health will just start draining at a rapid rate and I die.

I figure it is radiation but I haven't figured out how to tell where I can and cannot walk. I probably just really suck but it seems I am not finding enough supplies to keep myself alive.

Radiation is easy to detect, you get the little beeping noises and your screen usually starts to fade to black and white. For the other ones, you have to pay attention to the four little circles on the lower right side of your screen. If they go green yellow or red, you've gotta get out unless your trying to get something from within.

I've yet to play the second one (see previous post).

But, in the first one you were equipped with a geiger counter that would tick when you were near radiation. You could avoid it, drink liquor, or use anti rad drugs to take care of this.

I'd reccomend just avoiding it in the earlier stages of the game, as generally you haven't horded enough anti-rads to last you for a century. But have no fear, your time will come.

FYI, fan made patch has prevented all crashes for me so far.
