is this harder than rock band 1? cause that game was easy as balls.
and does it have that nasty looking framerate issue in the background fixed? just a minor peeve about the game for me.

2 is way better, you can now battle a whole band instead of just a guitar or a bass or a drum, its really cool and you can have a whole band put together from all over the world, it doesn't just have to be you and your friends on the same xbox

Lol, expert drums is not easy as balls, particularly if you buy the Who's song pack. Young Man Blues is nearly the hardest thing I've ever seen in a video game.
Expert singing is impossible unless you can actually sing and/or can manipulate the pitch sensor. The guitar's a little easier than Guitar Hero, but that's understandable because it's more of a party game.
The difficulty is really scaleable, I guess.

Maybe they could put a disclaimer on there that says "Don't play this for eight hours straight"

Rock Band 2 is WAY too light. There are seriously like five songs on there that I'd actually consider to be rock. The rest are some combination of pop/pre-teen girl music. I'm rather disappointed.

there are quite a few gay songs on there, but not everyone likes old music, even though it is good to play, but you need something different here and there.

Who said anything about it having to be old? I want both old and new ROCK. Tool, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Motley Crue, Metallica, Ozzy, Drowning Pool, Stone Sour, Godsmack, Scorpions, WHATEVER as long as it's actually ROCK.

Actually, from what I've seen of the set list, I would consider most of the songs on their rock. Just because they aren't heavy enough for you doesn't make it any less rock, just a different style of rock. You see, the rock genre covers a large spectrum of music when you look at it as a whole. That's not to say I don't consider some of the music on their to not be rock, but for the most part it looks pretty decent to me.
Also, having "Man in the Box" by Alice in Chains makes that game instant win. I will be purchasing it, even it that was the only song on there!!

The game is "Rock Band". Those are all metal bands.
I really don't want to spend the length of an entire song playing power chords, repeating the most hackneyed beat, or screaming non-lyrically into a mic.
That said, World Tour has fucking Jimi Hendrix, so I'm waiting for that.

HAHA I hated that song when I got to it....I was like "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS!?!?!?!"
but thats how games will be from now on, they put some good songs on the game and the rest gay, then you have to buy all the good ones, best way to make money if you think about it.
A general overview of bands in Rock Band 1: Coheed and Cambria, Bon Jovi, Stone Temple Pilots, Nine Inch Nails, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, The Rolling Stones, Boston, Metallica, Blue Öyster Cult, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Flyleaf.
That's rock. Even Harmonix knew that the shit they were putting in Rock Band 2 was not. Just trying to attract the female/pussy guy demographic.

No, I say this because the people at harmonix aren't just a bunch of programmers who randomly pull songs for their set lists out of a hat. Most of them are musicians as well. Im sorry but I find it hard to believe a group of rock musicians would have no idea who those bands were. Shit, I know some people who don't listen to rock but know those bands.

Quite of few of those are rock, such as Modest Mouse, the Donnas, Paramore, and Panic at the Disco. Just because they aren't necessarily good rock or the kind of rock you enjoy doesn't take away from the fact that they're still rock.
The fact that you seem angry Bob Dylan is in there makes me worry for your soul.

Yeah well you have to think about it from their POV...if you had a great game and wanted to make more money what would you do, you would put more music that more people like. Only makes sense IMO.

Apparently you didn't really read my original post when I stated that I didn't necessarily agree with all of the songs on there being rock, but for the most part it was a good set list. I could harp on one song about the Guitar Hero set list and say that the whole thing is crap too, but I won't because overall it is a decent set list aswell.
Just to be clear, I very much dislike Alanis Morissette. I was dissappointed to see that crap labeled as rock.

Yes, very general considering there are how many songs in that game? You can like what you want, but just because you don't like something doesn't mean it isn't rock. Sorry, you aren't "rock god" who chooses what's rock and what isn't. I suppose, having said that, I should probably take back my statement about Alanis Morissette not being rock. But I won't, because I fucking hate that shit. I'll play it once to get past it, then I'll be done with it.

Who is the "rock god" then? What defines a song as "rock music" exactly? Other than the person listening to it, that is.
I am the rock god.
It's safe to say that the core of what is distinguishable as "rock" is the present of drums, guitar (preferably electric, or played just as chords), and typically rhyming vocals and a repeating bass line. Other hallmarks of the genre include typical chord progression and regular song development, typically centering around a verse-chorus-verse-hours.
"But wait a minute, rock god! I listen to such-and-such and they don't do one (or more) of those things, but they're definitely a rock band!" You're right, many bands lacking or adding to these basic guidelines are still rock. In such cases, however, these are permutations of the genre or combinations of rock with other genres, both of which are generally readily recognizable to the listener and generally intended by the artist.
Questions, kids?
