View Full Version : If the "Hovertanks" extremely bother you, then please just don't use them...

Honestly, many people are taking this way too far. These "Hovertanks" that everyone hates so much have absolutely nothing to do with how fun the game is or how fun it will be. If they didn't hover then they would roll, who cares? (Unless of course they double as boats, in which case it would look like a boat with wheels somehow...) The developers probably one day thought "hey, we need something to display how powerful magic items can be" and they brought out those. I doubt they are some God Device that will enable people to mow over your city... They will be balanced with everything else.
If you are threatening to not buy the game because of the tanks then I strongly suggest you reevaluate the way you play your games. The game is not out and already you are making demands that they remove stuff you do not like. People like you are why UO turned into Candyland. People like you are the reason games come out looking great but years later turn into absolute garbage.
This is exactly like those people who scream and cry about a game being too hardcore for their tastes. You are doing the EXACT SAME THING by demanding something you hate about the game be changed. Let the game come out and let people experiment with everything. Then we'll see what works and what does not work.
If you hate them based solely on a Role-Playing point of view then you should realize that you must develop your role in the world that has been given to you. People in those tough times didn't stand around and scream "NO, THAT'S NOT REALISTIC, MAKE IT STOP" they dealt with the strange and unorthodox and were forced to adapt accordingly.
My point:
Don't spit at an idea before you even get to toy around with it first, that's just closed-minded...

aye, they'll hopefully either not be that powerful, insanely hard to find, or require some insane amount to run...
Though the idea of going around in a hovertank, Rollin' with your homies and whatnot, does sound quite amusing ^^

Honestly, I think those things are just stupid.
If they are any kind of good you'll be forced to use them to get anything
done, so if you're not thrilled by the idea of a flying cheese fortress it's a big fat finger to you.

There are allot of people who seem concerned about them because of what they might do to the game. I have no problem at all with that.
Personally, I think they could be a very cool thing. I like the idea in general. But so much depends on how they are implemented.

The hovertanks will probably be craftable and quite expensive. They also need a 4-men crew. And if you don't have good organisation friendly units gathered around one of those tanks will take a big amount of damage when it explodes. Seems balanced enough to me and adds diversity.

If warhulks offer superior firepower and are more deadly than average calvary, it would force every clan who wants a shot at winning to use them.
Warhulks is Alfar race assault venicle?

... umm yea warhulks might be have supierior firepower... but too take em out all you have to do is jump inside and kill the crew... then guess what you have it now. so yea it ant overpowered.

If you're not at all thrilled about PvP then THAT is also a big, fat finger to you.

I am guessing they are going to be semi rare. Only the guilds that have dedicated crafters working together will have them and the huge war'owar ships.
At least I hope that is how it will be, because I know I am leading some crafters to make great works!

They aren’t hover thanks, they’re mobile siege engines. And yeah, and schmuck can jump in the back and kill the pilot. Trust the devs to know what they’re doing and then bitch after you’ve played the game for a while and find that something is broken.

We don't like them because from the video, they seemed overpowered and they don't fit into the theme of the game. Besides that, it doesn't matter if it's balanced in the game, it just looks gay. They might as well have the characters riding purple dildos shooting out magical unicorns.

I'd still play it if it was fun... :D

If people perceive the hovertanks as op'd, then of COURSE they are gonna use them.
We just don't know enough about them at this point to speculate.
Will they be able to hit mobs?
PvP only?
Walls only?

You know the whole "If you don't like it don't use it argument" is such an invalid one in almost every situation it brings up. "Don't like teleports, then don't use them." Still changes the feel of the world, and everyone else will be using them. Its such a stupid response.
Long as they ain't overpowered I'm fine with 'em.
Would be interesting to use them to fight a dragon though.
I think, that "hovertank" is siege venicle against walls only

Don't forget the fact that these things, although powerful will be HUGE targets that everyone will focus on in a battle.

People are idiots, just like universal banks this will blow over eventually because people will be so sick of others bitching they'll flame if they don't stop quick enough, that's what I love about forumfall if your stupid you'll get mentally abused.
Warhulks aren't over powered, I could easily see a bunch of people rushing them and turning them on each other like a Wookie on an AT-ST not only that all these videos are awfully staged, if Warhulks came along in a real game like that without any guards whatsoever they'd be swarmed before they even reach the city and taken over.
The idea behind staged videos is that they show off different features at their best even if it means that a bunch of people who in a normal game would probably slaughter it, it's like with those TF2 videos with the demoman running along with all those rockets going after him, in a real game he'd probably be dead in a second if he tried that unless he was really good.

No crawl, SCS, universal banks, graphic and now hovertanks.
If you want to fined something to cry about there will always be something or you can just wait untill the game is out and try it.
It have been said before and I hope it will still stand when the game is out that the dev's wont change stuff becouse some on the forum are crying.

This argument is like saying "if SRS (which isn't in the game but this argument has been made before) bothers you so much, just play with one character." It just doesn't work out that way.
I see Signus made a related reply.

Ever read any of Edgar Rice Burroughs "John Carter of Mars" books?
In the books, on Mars it's a more primitive medieval type society. Warriors wear armor and carry swords. Yet they also had airships and flying transports.
These hovertanks remind me of that.

The developers probably one day thought "hey, we need something to display how powerful magic items can be" and they brought out those.
It would be different if they were magic, but they aren't. They have rocket engines, watch the video.
Anyway, whining about people whining isn't going to make them stop. The very fact that so many people have posted about it proves that it's important to people.

That would be fine if this was a Final-Fantasyesque JRPG where all the characters are pale, skinny, androgynous 12 year olds with gravity defying hair, but it's not and I'd like to keep it that way.

So with no hover tanks how do you propose we get through walls? Could you imagine sitting at a wall with a siege hammer while archers sit on it and pick you off? That does not sound like fun at all. If you noticed in the videos there are Cannon type things on the walls of some cities ... I would imagine a few good hits from one of them would take down a siege tank.
They obviously didn't try to stop the siege tanks in the videos because they wanted too show what they could do. Lol the video would not have been very good if it just showed a siege tank rolling up to a city and getting destroyed before it got too the walls. We would all be like what the heck is that vehicle for? They had too knock down some walls so we knew the intended purpose, although it does look too take down the walls rather quickly in the video.

That was done in shadow bane. However those take time to setup and there not that much fun... who wants too sit behind a siege weapon when you could drive one into the middle of the action.

The thing a lot of people fail to notice is that the back of these siege weapons is wide open and they are easily boardable, this even happens in the video.
Wut, you mean we need tactics to beat this, even though we're the defenders and should just want to pew pew from our walls?
Yes, I mean that
