yes one character per server.
Shouldn't be that much of a deal since you can untrain your skills and train something else.

However, this will take even more time, and will not be very feasible. You have to wait for skill to decay, and there is the question of stats.

At best I would like 3 character slots. 1 for adventuring and 2 for crafting.

So basically you want to be able to have 2 characters to create stuff and one to use it all?

I think it's good that people are just able to make 1 character per server.
It prevents many people from using "multiclients" and I think this way you don't have so many brainless people running around just crafting.

That would make anyone that want to be a crafters worthless. Im in it for the pvp but not everyone likes that and just want a game whit freedom.

Upon current infomation I am lead to beleive that only one character slot will be avalable. Hard shit.

One of the main reasons SCS is in place is so that people can't do that.

if you can only have one character per server, how many servers will there be? will there be a limit to the total number of characters you can have?

You can play on as many servers as you like, but only one character on each. Number of servers depends on the number of subscriptions...

No.. you don't have to wait for skill to decay if you wish to switch from a magic person to a sword person.
Last I heard, You pay some cash and you can get most of your points refunded back and you can pick where you want to put them back.

It really doesn't matter if you are in favor of 1 char/server or not. It has been this way for the better part of a decade and it is a good thing.

You will have much more of a connection with your character.

It will make everyone valuable, as you will need to rely on fellow players for different skills.

You wont have to worry about spies/alts.

Re-emphasis of first point....

kind of a tough rule but now those who specialize in one particular thing will be more valuable an interesting twist

Some will get around the 1 character constraint with multiple accounts. Some games are filled with 2nd account bots.

Dembar

yes thats the only way but nothing you can do against that.
even games where people can have multipel chars on a server do have multipel acounts for some reason

Not really, it angers me and most people, that some people join more than one clan. Also spying is annoying aswell. To avoid this the 1 character per sever has come into effect. So you can't be in multiple clans and you can't sign onto another character to obtain information. :sly:

10 Reasons that once character per server is fantastic:

10: Most people will name their character something decent. Not nearly as much 'newbkiller' or 'l33tskilz' running around.
9: You don't have to remember one friend as 10 different names.
8: People won't be multi-guilding since there's only one toon.
7: People can't have a PK character and a PvE character.
6: Creates a group mentality with races, further expanding conflict.
5: Creates value for crafters since you won't just have a mule alt.
4: People will actually be able to play their character because they're not juggling 9 different ones.
3: Kill on sight lists will be back in action.
2: Noteriety.
1: Consequences for being a dick. (I know it kind of goes hand in hand with 2)

Of Course...somebody could just make a character on another server :)

1 character per server is great because you actually put more attention into your build. also this avoids making twinks like in WoW. i think twinks ruin the game completely because new players don't stand a chance in battleground having to face chars with very good gear.

Seems to me when it comes to skill if you're at say 500 skill pts and that's the max and your magic sucks....you use it alot instead of your sword for killing and it goes up 1 causing your sword to go down 1...aka: you have a max but it will fluctuate depending on your use....just 100% a guess of how the decay works but that would seriously not suprise me

No classes, no picking, you just train the skills you want, if they turn out bad, start training other ones!

Please don’t make stupid shit like that up.

Anyway, there will only be one character per server because –

It discourages people from hiding behind alts so they can act like fuck-tards. A players reputation will matter.

It makes crafters very important to the game resulting in a more involved economic system which enhances game dynamics.

Discourages people making alts and using them to infiltrate other guilds.

Besides, if you don’t like what skills you have trained up just start training new ones. Due to the soft cap, the skills you don’t use will decrease while the ones you do use will increase. Single character server is fine.

Negative.

According to the currently available information, you can pick up a skill or ability at anytime and star using it to become more efficient at it. You don't have to decay any skill in order to be able to use and train another skill. Also, there aren't POINTS to be distributed for skills, therefor there aren't any points to get back from decay. You use a skill and its being trained, you don't use a skill, its level drops. Simple as that.

these arent WoW talent points. You dont pay to get them refunded, and have a limited amount of them. What nefastus said.

yeah, but no limit to points (except at 100, skill cap), so the point system "refund system" is invalid...no offense.

Yes, there are points, but they aren't manually distributed throughout your skill set as you know from common MMORPGs. Unlike in other MMORPGs, there aren't ranks and levels, which means you don't get a certain amount of points for distribution every time you gain the next level or "dink". Instead, your skills will progress as you use them. For example, a sword swing has 100pt cap, you pick up a sword and start swinging it, the more you swing it, the more points you get in your 100pt cap.

Having only 1 character per server will cut down on all of the useless alternate characters that take up server memory. Maybe cut down on the number of people with the exact same crafting abilities to keep a nice, flowing economy?

Seems pretty reasonable to me.
