What happends if you die in the middle of nowhere with no one around, can you come back to the corpse as long is it doesnt decay before you get there or it has been looted.

Yes.. if you are lucky enough to get to your dead body before a mob or player loots you, then yes you can regain all of your items back.

Well what I meant to say is will I be automatically transported to a far away resurrection point or will it be my job to walk my ghost to a healer?

You will have the option to set your rez point at a "binding stone" or something. which are around the world.. mostly at the main towns and clan towns.
Once you "Release" from your body you insta rez all noob geared (the stuff you get when you first log in to the game) at your bind stone. Make sure you have extra gear and cash in your bank so you won't just run around in the noob gear.
Also like I said in another thread, What you see on mobs is what you get, So you see armor on a zombie, you get the armor on the kills every time. This makes it easy to have average gear ready for you in the bank in case you die and need to go hunting for the guy that killed you.

hence this is why full loot wont be so bad in this game : ) 1 rez with noob gear and 2 easy as hell to have back up gear

Maybe there will be insurance that you pay and the loots wont drop from your body?

items in most games are overrated. as far as i know DF features you craft the best items yourself and after a while they decay you start repairing and in the end it will just get destroyed anyway due to too many repairs. this used to happen in the first Diablo the more you would repair an item the lower it's max durability would get becoming unusable after a while.

big bonus for Mahirim in that, they can get back to their bodies faster than any other race...

So basically you'll be able to loot your own corpse?

Gravestone really, your corpse turns into a little grave after a while. But yeah if you get there in time.

If no-one else seizes the opportunity first. Try to die in a concealed spot lol. :D

erm, i think depending on what mobs you fight they loot you. so your gear might not be on your grave. itl be on that lizard man holding a ghost claw ect.

What about dropping items? Is that possible?
If you're being chased and you know you have no chance...can you run behind a tree and quickly drop say...your ship thingy...then keep running and hope your pursuer didn't see you make the drop...then after you rez you can come back and grab your ship again.
Is that possible? I had to do that in both Morrowwind and Oblivion a bunch of times when I didn't want the guards to get my stolen loot.

Don't think dropping items is in the game (might be wrong).

Presuming a ? at the end of that, from what I remember reading, mob AI can loot your corpse.
So a goblin or something is likely to carry off all your gear, and in fact use it. When you come back, you can go hunting for the little bastard wearing your full plate and great sword.
A wolf or something, I guess would just eat all your muffins.

No, no items on the ground. Not sure if you could place things on another corpse though.
There are also some notes around about a time delay on destroying items, so that if you know you're about to die, you can't deliberately spoil the loot for the ganker, except one item I'm guessing.
Presuming reasonable weight allowances and size of bags, being people aren't likely to simply grab everything off your corpse. They'll sift through and grab anything that looks good and leave the junk.
One tactic with free form bags is to hide good stuff under piles of other stuff, in hopes that it'll be missed in the sift.

If the Mob can use any items on your body they will take those items. If they take everything is beyond me, but i hope they dont take my bindstone and then precede attack my clan city!

Ya they only take what they might consider to be an upgrade to what they have and actually use it.
So the zombie guy might take your ghost claw thing, Bow and arrows. But will more than likely leave your boat and mount figurines in your bag.
The animals will just take your food.

It's been done in some games. Don't worry. It's not going to be done in DF.
Everything is lootable. Even quest items.
It's one way of getting quests done. wait for one person to finish killing the 20 wolfs and collecting their teeth and then go kill them and turn those teeth in as your own... that is if you can kill that person.
Man I can't wait for DF to come out..

Wow, this feature sounds like a lot of fun i wont be carrying anything except the bare necessities in my bags if i were ever to leave town for a smoke in the woods or to hump with a sheep :|
Also will probably eliminate all 13 year old whiners who go,"griefers suck!" But umm devs, be ready for a lot of emotional and teary mails about items lost on a gank and begging/pleading for reimbursement :D

Hmmm... there is a concern a friend of mine brought up. If you're in the midst of a large battle and you fall on the frontlines, would your enemies be able to loot all of your belongings before your fellow soldiers fighting only 10 feet from you could do anything to fend him off or drag your corpse back to ressurect you, etc.?
I highly doubt it, since it doesn't coincide with the degree of realism they're trying to get. But, I hope to God it isn't like WoW, with the Shift-click loot-all-instantly phenomenon. I could understand if maybe, you drop your sword and your shield, and someone grabs your sword (I guess loose in your hand, since there apparently won't be an items-lying-on-the-ground system?) and prepares himself before being engaged by your brethren.

First of all.. when you fall to the ground you can't be looted if you haven't "Released" yet. They have to finish you off or you have to hit the "Release" button (for a lack of a better word ATM) then you can be looted.
Second, It's a drag and drop type of thing. Your bag space window opens up, Their bag space window opens up, and you have to drag items from their bags to yours.
And I think I heard you have to sheath your weapon in order to loot something.. Which isn't a good idea to do in the middle of a battle filed.
But.. if they move the line past your corpse, they might have some one behind their line and just finishing people off and looting the corpses.

If the resurection point is in the city which is under siege, does that mean that you can take some weapons and return to battle? I mean, it wouldn't make sense but how the devs are going to prevent it?

More than likely you can only do that if it's your town under attack. Would probably take to long to run all the way back to battle if your clan is attacking some one else.

the beginning of the darkfall you wont have to be worried about getting back to your corpse as it will be dry looted and probably made foul by the player

You're missing the point. If everyone in the sieged town are able to reborn right after they die, the atackers will have no chance, since the defenders are returning to the wall over and over again...

Should do away with noob gear altogether. Otherwise it will be repeatitive 'Me rez, me kill newbie mob, me get gear'. Have them rez naked, and have to buy/wrangle up some armor and weapons.
UO style, baby. Best darn death system there is.
