Ok, i only found out about Darkfall fairly recently, i have read alot about it (not all) but i was wondering about the fact when you die all your items are fully lootable. Im guessing that means you lose it all, so, does anyone know how hard to get things back will be, if it takes along time or just takes alot of money to buy it all? like i said i dont know everything about the game so, if there is any information or links that will help me, i will be grateful

Option 1-
Stash money off of your guy so when you die you have some cash on hand.
Option 2-
Kill the guy that looted you and get your stuff back.
Option 3-
Get someone to give you new items to start out with.
Option 4-
Cry to momma.

No way of knowing until the game comes out. i wouldn't think most basic gear would be overly expensive but i would assume there would be some risk involved and it probably depends on how much you are willing to risk losing taking to battle with you. i remember thinking twice about taking some expensive weps/armor into battle back when i was playing ultima online.

The point of full loot is that your death means something, if you could just get back your items, what would be the point?

Yeah, equipment as a whole isn't meant to be as important as in many other MMO's. The biggest part of the game will be, imo,
1.The player's skill with the controls.
2.The Skills on the character
3.The group of people with you.
3.5 (Place big gap here.)
4.Equipment
5.If you ate you veggies that day.
----(Side Note: Support your clan grocer)
6.Other random stuff.
So that being said, Equipment is also fairly easy to get back. Gold is what you want to be most careful with. That and try not to carry around your siege cannons or 3 decker battle ships on you unless your surrounded by a lot of you clan buddies you can trust to grab them before the enemy can.

Yes you lose everything...and don't forget, NPC's will loot you too! If they like what you have they will take it (example:animals will take your food, goblins maybe your weapons etc.)
There is no bigger incentive (other then perma death) to not die then if you can lose all your stuff.
Now usually in these kind of environments, stuff changes hands quickly and there is alot of demand for replacement armor / weapons etc...which is where your neighborhood crafter comes in. And because of the demand, mediocre goods are reasonbly priced.
Add that into having a spare set of stuff, your good to go.
Hope that helps, and someone else will provide links.....I'm at work

You will be amazed at the response times on these forums.
Everyone is starving for information and will talk about anything at all...which tends to lend itself to some interesting reading material.

Or lack of depending on which way you see it ;) I think the response is so fast because people are desperately grabbing their thinly veiled +1s while they can... *cough* ...

Some ... people... can play WoW for years not realizing this simple truth. Poor them!

If you’re still concerned about loosing your gear, keep in mind that there’s no “epic purplez” like in wow or similar games. While some gear will be better than other gear, it will be easily replaced and not require raiding for hours on end or grinding shit loads of faction. So while it will suck and be inconvenient when you lose your shit, (which makes death meaningful in this type of game) it’s not going to be soul crushing or anything. Just buy some new shit, PK someone and take his stuff or loot a mob that’s wearing armor.
No consequences for dying = meaningless pvp. Oh, and bank your gold. :p

Pretty much it!
Also remember that not everybody will bother to fill their inventory with relatively lame gear so there's a chance you could return to your corpse to find your items. But I doubt it *grin*

I've still never understood the point of keeping all of your gear in a game when you die. It gives you no incentive to stay alive. I've been playing age of conan recently And from all accounts that I can tell so far you dont lose anything in it either. And from a game based on Conan where the concept he lives by is take what you want by killing people you'd think that you'd lose stuff in it. That was one of my favorite things about ultima online. I used to love to just go killing someone just to load up my own supplies. Better than grinding away in a dungeon for hours to get the same thing

i think i'll stash my good stuff and use it only when really necessary the rest of the time since skills will be really important i'll stick to weaker equipment make ppl think i'm a newbie or something. also i think in-game socialization is really important this way. Having a few friends around you will help even if u do get killed they could quickly take your items or protect them until u get back. So full loot of corpses actually makes you get new strategies and a completely new point of view over death.

The devs had once said that it would be possible to magically detect an item that used to be yours, i.e., that was looted. This adds a more interesting aspect of redemption and retribution.

Here is what you do, You have 3 or 4 sets of armor and weapons in the bank. So when you die, It's right there for you to get back.
Also since the Looting system on the mobs are WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) then it's not hard to find average grade gear. The best gear in the game doesn't give you a huge advantage so even if you loose that to some one, well.. you lost it to some one with crappier gear. But it can give you that small edge that you might need (most fps guys know what I'm talking about).
So don't worry about getting your stuff back.. unless you want to go hunting for the guy that killed you.. which is what I would probably do if I died kind of close to my rez point. And keep multiple sets of items in your bank so you never have to worry about loosing your stuff.. even your money. It's what the smart people do.

Haha I can imagine it now..
A dies..
B survives..
A "Watch my items till I get back.."
B "Sure thing"
B loots corpse
A "Right, now trade me my sword back"
B "What sword??"
A and B's marriage falls apart IRL
Yeah, I'd hate to play this game with people I knew IRL.. can never be too trusting

The only problem I see with full loot is that it is very solo unfriendly. It will be much more effective to always group with someone you know and trust. While this can be a good thing (and is certainly a realistic thing) it will put a lot of people off the game.

Free form bags allow you to hide most of your good stuff under a load of old junk for example. Keep a few reagents on top for example, but the bulk burried away deeper.
As a professional gankee in UO, I found that most gankers just grab the obvious stuff. Also, how many full suites of armour can one person carry?
Also, seeing as the ganker can't just flick everything out onto the ground, and deleting items is a time consuming process, I think DFO will make it even more likely the bulk of your gear will remain, most times...

Not so much solo unfriendly, as definitely harder. Like real life, it will of course be more effective to work within a trusted group.
And I think it's a given that a lot of people will not like this game. Even FFA game servers without full loot are the minority in most other MMO's, if they have FFA at all. Personally I think FFA without full loot is pointless, and makes the whole game just a gank-fest arena match.

You also have to understand that armor is not something to really worry about since it decays overtime and you will need to replace it anyway. The only thing really of value would be gold (of course), and perhaps some mats that you have been farming for. Unless you have a large amount of expensive items, dying won't matter too much.
