I was watching the long gameplay video. And the mages seemed pretty overpowered. Like they could pick up people with their spells and throw them a half a mile! Like a melee player will try to run at one and them BAM hes thrown back 2000 yards. Im not trying to be a complainer, and i am not the type that wants nerfs 24/7. Im just saying they may need a slight nerf before the game is released.

no them probly have heavy Mp usage or is expensive to use because of reagents and other things

cmon... now, i told you im not a big nerfer...
No nerfing! Just rebalance other things to make it fair! If mages can pushback with spells, then Melee should have abilities that knock people away too. And for those that complain about range use a freaking bow if it bothers you. Or maybe they might include throwing of weapons!

i wasnt crying, it was a mere suggestion. I take everything i said back now because i just noticed regeants would be hard to buy for your spells
thats fine : ) the way they balanced things was actully pretty smart on there part

I am sure balancing is what the two month beta will be all about but from what I saw in the gameplay video a huge majority were melee especially the Orks/Mahirim who won just about every fight.
I'd also like to add that we don't know if there are counter magic you can use such as shields etc to block the push backs.

You can't tell from that video. Was that mage using low level spells, or was he using high level spells? What did they cost? How much damage did they do? We simply don't know. We'll have to play the game and find out.

I really hope that isn't the extent of high level spells. I want some monstrous huge spells!

knockback from spells as it is in the video, id have to agree is overpowered. but i do have faith in the devs that they will balance it enough come release.
AS IT IS, it's pretty much a one shot kill in the sense that you can totally eliminate an opponent from the battlefield by throwing him off a cliff. so in a battle with equal numbers especially in smaller numbers(6vs6 and below), the side who can eliminate just one by knockback will have easily and immediately gained the upper hand.
even if you cant throw him off a cliff, every time you knock him off a few meters into the air gives you a few precious seconds where one opponent isnt doing anything to help his team. so it's practically a 'paralyze' spell(if there is such a thing) that you cant cure unless there's some sort of enhance gravity or increase weight spell lol
now you're gonna say that everyone can have that same knockback spell... but do we really want battles where everybody are just flying left and right from the same spells?

The archer was one-shotting people who were already injured.
And this thread better be a joke. I would never violate the ToS and do inappropriate things, but...

It was a gameplay video. You have no idea who was playing the avatars, how uber their skills were, etc.
This is pretty ridiculous. I really didn't expect to hear the word "nerf" before anyone has actually played the game.
By the way, there IS a beta, and I believe, like all other games, game-balancing issues will be addressed as a result of the beta. That's what it's for, after all.

To be honest, a lot of those shots in the game play video looked to be there more in light of just showing you what the game was like rather than actual PvP game play.
Like if you watch the mage video, most of the guys he shoots spells at just stand there. This also applies to the charging mounted warriors vs. the non mounted ones. They just stand there. Hell. Probably the same guys who were playing the non-mounted characters switched over to the mounted characters and charged them just to show you mounted combat.
And like others said, most everyone will probably use some form of magic. I think the devs stated this somewhere to boot. So all in all, I wouldn't put a ton of focus on "balance" issues when we have yet to see actual game play footage from a players stand point and not a floating camera demoing whats in the game.

nah, I'd say nerf it...
and while we're on it, let's REALLY nerf it... like pushing back 2m, so the melee player can close in fast enough...
it's like totally unfair to the melee player who was stupid enough to run into the spell

let's attach a -5% movement speed stat to every armor piece...
I mean, if we nerf, we should do it right... eh?
No, do you not understand reagents? And heavy MP + AIMing the spells?
Also if youve read up on this. You would know that mages can be killed pretty quickly if they dont fight back with spells. So this is perfectly useful if someone jumps on a mages back, and they hurry and blow them away.

Can´t understand, why to discuss CLASSES in a game like darkfalls. Beside that: Not even beta has started...
If some people don´t like a game like it is (and like the team meant it to be) - go play another one...
