Battlemage/healing. I like to play the hardest classes as I've been told healing is going to be rediculously difficult.

well so far i am the only person that picked crafter:sly: all your money will be mine:lmao: gonna hire people to watch for gankers when it comes out so if you want some easy gear look me up

Morthor

Crafter here too.

But this poll is kinda dumb - no-one will strictly stay to one of these disciplins because you can mix your skills. For example I'll be predominantly crafter for most of my time but all my combat skills will be in melee apart from maybe a heal or two.

09-09-2008, 11:17 PM
I'm not sure yet but guessing I'll be a ranged specialised but with some crafting to it too, it's so hard to decide so I'll probably wait until I get to look at all avaliable skills myself.

The question was 'what style will you be?' and there are four options to chose from... no intermediate. The word 'main' wasn't used anywhere ;)

Don't get me wrong. I was just pointing it out to the OP that thats what it seemed like.

Ausei

I understand but will in a main battle for all the marbles will you most likely want to rely on your melee skills ranged mage or crafter skills to win? lol

Darthsteveo
09-09-2008, 11:30 PM
I will be a master creature handler slash teras kasi artist..... oh wait! had a flashback there. I will play an uber assassin using my skills towards stealth, speed, and daggers... OMFG another flash back! I can't say what I'll be because I don't know what skills are available, but I plan to be this guy --->:ninja: I chose melee btw

Tsukae
09-09-2008, 11:32 PM
I plan on playing a mage simply because most everyone else will want to be melee so I want to be somewhat different.

Xarath
09-09-2008, 11:34 PM
I would go for melee but I also enjoy crafting :)

Ausei
09-09-2008, 11:35 PM
Yeah i like staying out of immediate danger for the most part instead i like to see it coming and then run

I will focus on the melee skills, but i want to have some archery skills too.. you never know what you're going to need in a fight.

Ausei
09-10-2008, 12:14 AM
with this poll we could also see how battles will be balanced out

Armageddoom
09-10-2008, 12:35 AM
melee is the most fun for me. and if the crafting system is very good i will enjoy it too :)

E) Yes

err

Actually I'd like to model the skillset of a 6th century Byzantine Kataphractoi, either Thracian or Syrian. That is a roughly even division of skill between melee and archery, with an emphasis performing both from the saddle.

Forestbane

Primarily a ranger. I also like playing a dark mage.

Ranger or Mage, but i voted Ranger

Kaseki
09-10-2008, 01:58 AM
It looks like I'm in the minority (as I always tend to be in these MMO things)...

I'm hoping to go as much into crafting as I can without making myself completely defenseless.

I've always been attracted to playing a magic user in rpg's, however the ranged combat looks to be very intersting.

Ausei

I hope there are a ton more in melee and mage and range should be even

Heimdall58

I sincerely hope that's inaccurate. I might get my panties in a bunch with the devs about people shooting bows while running.

I dint vote because you forget to add hybrid. Poll failed

Realbigdeal22
09-10-2008, 04:51 AM
I think you can be a crafter and a fighter strong as anyone whitout craft skills.

I think there will have an other kind of limit skills passive like craft skills.Like runescape.

That is actually accurate Sir...

As close to an archtype I can get, it would be Paladin. Melee fighter that focases equally on Melee Combat as Healing and Tactical Party Buffing.. Maybe throw in a few divine smiting spells or what-have-you for those pesky guerrilla warfare ****s who think I would look prettier with a bunch of feathers sticking out of various random body parts.

Edit: Anyone notice that there are a few Knock Back effect spells, but I have not heard (nor sighted yet) a 'Pull' like spell!

It's already implemented IG, and it's called pheromone blast. The critical damage from this can break your heart.

Going to play a mage with a mix of magic skills for offense, defense and utility.

IcePillow
09-10-2008, 10:33 AM
Healing I hope.
Either way, I'll be a dwarf caster of some sort.

I'll try a ranger... IF the manual aming isn't as f***ed up and useless as in AoC.

If it is i'll play as a crafter.

Abbadon
09-10-2008, 06:27 PM

Jonkar

All of them actually...

Bow
Sword
Healing spells
Crafting

Heramon
09-10-2008, 07:09 PM
melee and mage are the best:P

Vogular
09-10-2008, 07:17 PM
My answer will not be 100%

Melee
Bow
some kind of healing (perhaps potion maker or bandage)
hidding
And when there is room left weapon crafter and / or just a ore miner

Paakkor
09-10-2008, 07:23 PM
Mahirim criminal/robber would be cool :D And pirate career sounds interesting. Although clan wars would be so sweet. Like in L2.

But anyways Im going to be probably ranger. :ninja:

Kithiom

I will probly be a warrior, probably with 2 handed weapons and then have some magic skill

Holymole
09-10-2008, 09:24 PM
Mage/crafter, mainly just because i love to see things blow up because of me. Also i hope there will be some good spells that can annoy people who are bothering me. :)

It would be awesome to have your 'Maker's Mark' on stuff.
Have a name like "Communism" one I used in WoW.
All the engineering and weapons smithing I did on that toon had my name on the item. It was awesome.
"Made by Communism."
heh.

Monk!

I will fight naked until the day that I die! ... Er... more like the day that I die a thousand times without getting a single kill.

To be serious, I like playing lightly armored, fast moving warriors who can stealth. Not a rogue, per se, although I love the lockpicking and trapsmithing abilities of the D&D rogue, but a kind of quick moving backup combatant, who can be where you need him within moments, and can get behind enemy lines if he needs to.

I also would really like to completely disappoint my enemies when they do happen to kill/capture me - having minimal armor and weapons for them to loot is kinda a partial victory for me, and the fact that I can't be disarmed when I play hand to hand specialists makes me very happy.

However, unless they have a good hand to hand system in DFO (which I am pretty sure they won't - I think I read something saying that they don't plan to have unarmed combat at all), I'll probably end up playing something akin to an assassin. I prefer to play more honorable characters than that, but I definitely don't want to be wearing plate armor if I can help it, and I like being sneaky. Unless the stealth and assassination skills are separate, I'll probably end up relying heavily on sneak attacks.

Yea only in darkfall. Any other auto click pwn game mages are the nub easy macncheese sauce class.

im going for a melee mage mix, that way i can tear someone up and when they run away i just root them and finish them off, also i think melee will be really fun in this game because of the whole thing about you having to aim your spells and range, so i'll just bunny hop my way over to a mage like its an FPS and slice his face open while he's sitting there trying to get his crosshair on me.
