Had read that "alot" of people were rather dissapointed with it. Didn't live up to expectations or what-have-you.
Decided to go ahead and pick it up, and to be honest, if you have some form of minute sense of creativity within your brain, it is indeed quite fun.
Played it for many hours so far.
Don't expect extremely *overt* complexity though.
There has been a thread.
I kinda ignored the first one though because I had just played a bit of it then.
Anyways, it is/was prety much as I expected, realy fun for a while (save tribal/civ state, those where just booring as hell).
What botherd me was that graphicly you got alot of freedome but there are only soo many functions. Uh, le me try a re-phrase that.
In the creature phase, you basicly only had 2 options, attack, or play retarded social mini game. Soo even if you made your creature with al your love, it's actual function would be the same as a blob with some shit thrown on it.
Theres no real chalange to the game either, if you die you just respawn, and this is supposed to be "hard" setting?
Anyways, since I knew it woud only last a while (just fucking around in space now), I'm not disepointed. I found the game a bit lacking here and there, but then it usualy made it up with something else.
Over al, I would give this game a 4/5 because it at least promotes creativity and also brings a bit of fresch air into the copy&paste game industry.
But if it's only gampeplay you are looking for, you better of with something else.

My thoughts exactly, definately a nice change of pace compared to the other flavors of shit thrown around, EA or not.
The game, up to the point I've played it at, hasn't really offered much that has made me go, "Whoah. Cool."
That in itself is dissapointing.
That said, I'm on the Civ stage on Hard - and I don't know about you, but I'm just getting pummeled to submission like a little kid in school who's getting pummeled to submission by armies of tanks and fleets of ships. Poor little kid.
I've been stuck on the Civ Stage for hours. My last save is me, in one city, on an island captured entirely by enemy red. Enemy red has fun pecking at my base constantly with just out of reach ships. In the end, no matter what I do, it ends the same way - red decides to just send his titload of ships over to blow my ass to asserines, along with a lovely complement of tanks to balance out the carnage.
Ugh.

I've played spore some time now and think it is fun till you reach city stage.
I got so bored that i stoped playing after i build my spaceship and started a new species.
All in all its not as great as expected :|

All you need is to ignore all aspects of your vehicles save weapons. The AI is incredibly predictable and stupid.
Otherwise, the game has been a disappointment, besides getting chased by epic creatures.

it didn't live up to the hype, but what publicized game does?
i say it's a pretty decent game.
i really like the space stage and the galaxy is fuckin HUGE. i can't even put an estimate on how many 1000's of stars there's must be.
and what other game can you create a race of warmonging space monkeys that brings destruction to others worlds in the from of flying lime green cadillacs with golden rims n trim?
it can get a bit repetitive, but there's more then one way to play it.
i'm just now starting to take the time to create worlds and it's pretty fun.

i think its boring. i dled it yesterday and ive already beaten it (gotten to space) 3 times.
first race was carnivore, second was herbivore, third was a hybrid type (both social and attack skills)
the customization is fun, but too limiting to be truly innovative. - doesnt matter what kind of shit or what order you put shit together on your units, they all do the same thing as all the other possible combinations. ffs my airplanes look like battleships lol, but they fly just as well as the spiffy-aerodynamic-superstreamlined-f22x12 1/2 planes i made
tribal stage is a joke. - honestly wtf is the point? mass your armies and just wipe the floor with the other species or make a band and sing them into submission. pfft. there is no strategy involved.
civ stage is a joke. so you start with one city and the necessary tech to make tanks. build as many tanks as possible - win stage. i even tried to play around with the different civs (religion, econ, military) religion and military you simply mass tanks and conquer/convert enemy cities. econ is mildly interesting because it allows you to buy out enemy cities/spice derick.
space could be fun, i havent spent too much time playing the space stage yet. but from the looks of it, i wont be able to do much considering my planets are constantly under attack from lame pirates or some creature has a cold and i have to kill it (in 3 mins or less. lol)... also: i hate the view and camera controls in the space stage.
meh whatever i wont be buying this game ever.
So much for 'peaceful options'.
Well, apparently I'm a military race, so by default, everyone started out with their guns blazing. I barely got a few minutes into the map when the other cities on my island decided to shove their nuts in my face.

You can be sure the devs are going to put you at the top of the beta list now..
I did buy in last Sunday and I've just hit the space stage of the game. So far it's pretty good although like most people have said it doesn't quite live up to the hype....

The only thing that's hindering me at the moment, is the fact diplomacy is FUCKED up in space stage. Otherwise I'd have fun playing this game for ages.
Also, it's just too simple. Not enough options except for graphical ones. So you decide to enter an alliance with two races? Well they just blast eachother every fucking time.
Your own colonies / cities can't defend against simple pirates or invasions from lesser species. While other races handle this absolutely fine with their 3000 ships, our race appears to only have one even though we're far superior in every way.

game was terrible and is not worth more than £5
spore has 5 stages of evolution, each takes an hour to complete or less on "hard" difficulty
each stage is a shitty simplistic minigame that gives you customisation and not much else. you could probably find a better longevity version of each stage by spending 2 minutes browsing kongregate.
each stage is totally pathetic and easy
cell stage: 2D scrolling game where you try and grab food while killing/avoiding other cells
land creature stage: 3rd person going around mauling bitches, 5 whole seconds of fun
tribal stage: simply select all your warriors and move them to another village.. win..ridiculous
civ stage: even though i started off on the backfoot due to a few economic mistakes (accidentally sold a bunch of stuff for half what i bought it for) it was piss easy to defend against the IQ5 AI and piss easy to zerg down each city with an army that took 5 mins to build.
i didnt play the space stage as i doubted the game would improve in its last one fifth.
this games offers plenty of customisation ..lots of it utterly pointless. in civ stage out of your 4 management tabs..one allows you to compose a "national anthem" > pointless, and another allows you to dress your citizens..... pointless.
there is a little depth to customization in the cell and individual stages as it will effect your character significantly, in the rest of the stages its purely aesthetic.
i estimate the replayability factor of this game to be zero, and anyone disappointed with this game is more than justified :[

You can get viruses from downloading torrents.
Downloading copyrighted material via torrents is illegal. Don't discuss illegal stuff on these forums, or you'll pay highly for it.

I have not played it, but I have watched my brother play it quite a bit.
If you used the creature editor that was free for download you already got most of what the game has to offer.
The whole game is like super easy mode, even on hardest difficulty.
Micro stage is pretty much how I expected.
Creature stage(apparently there is no fish stage like I thought)- very easy and repetitive, run around and collect creature parts. You do this by finding them in little holes or by getting them from other creatures. You can become friends with them or kill them. My brother was a crazy ass herbivore that went around and killed all the other creatures for fun. You get DNA points, which are basically currency for editing your creature.
Tribe stage, most basic RTS you can think of. Very easy, destroy the other villages or befriend them.
Civilization stage, probably the easiest. Again befriend the cities or destroy them with ICBMs which makes them surrender.
Space stage is a little bit cool. Very repetitive though. Takes a while to get the really cool gadgets and things. You have to trade with other species a lot.
Except for the space stage, you can get through the rest of the game in probably 5 hours.
What they should of done is, make the AI much more aggressive. Also, it should have been a persistent world, where other creatures evolve at a static rate, so you have to hurry or so you can actually be at a disadvantage for once in the game. Very easy game, not worth $50. Wait til it is $20 and comes with expansions.

So far, to sum things up, the general consensus is that, while it incorporates many different aspects from various game genres, it doesn't do any of these aspects particularly well or in any unique fashion. That about right?

On Normal difficulty I had more money than I knew what to do with. Boats are super powerful and you should be able to rape coastal cites with impunity. Are you doing your economy to its fullest?

military speaking, on the civ stage, build to keep your peoples happy to a degree, but focus on industry, then spew out as many tanks as you can and cover any spice points you see, then build your city to full, waste any costal city, then start spewing out boats with as many possible guns you can add to them. Christ my boats are floating gun platforms of death. spew those out as you need them and clean up.
If you having trouble raise some capital and start licking there asses so they move out of a war phase with you, Alliances will end the civ phase as well, its okay to lick ass so long as you dont tell anyone.
game has no depth whatsoever
So far, to sum things up, the general consensus is that, while it incorporates many different aspects from various game genres, it doesn't do any of these aspects particularly well or in any unique fashion. That about right?
I have to disagree with that.
First of all the creature/building/vehicle creators give it a very 'unique fashion'. Though the first four fases are indeed a bit boring, they should've had more depht :(
The space fase in an exception to that, it takes quite a lot of time to finish it.
Definately a game worth playing till the end :)

the first three levels are fun, when you're building your creature. When you get to the civilization stage it starts to wear thin, though, as you're expected to design every-fucking-thing in the game. It's cool, but it takes forever. I ended up making a mushroom-looking thing as my capital building and all sorts of stupid shit sticking off of it because I lost interest.
The gameplay itself in that stage is also stupid and simplistic. At that point, it's more like The Sims. You do some simple chore stuff while focusing on making yourself look pretty.

There is no way I would pay 50€ for a game I am allowed to install 3 times. 50€ is way too much for a rental. Of course, if the game is as bland as it looks like, I wouldn't need to install it that often, but then, there would be even less point in getting it.
I'm staying away from EA games until they stop pretending DRM does prevent piracy and admit they are only doing it to milk their customers more, and kill the second hand market.

creature creator was interesting until my 3rd creature.
so i started a new game with a new creature to see what it's all about. it is too repetitive, after a few "ooh, here's a nice feature i haven't seen before" it gets dull.
i reached tribal age, and now i just don't bother anymore. i tried a few times to continue the game but when i was about to hit play i was like "pff" and hit quit.
spore is a perfect example of an overhyped game. these 3 times only install makes sense to me now, since i don't think anyone would bother install this game more than two times.
