You will play this game?
Mine is probably the freedom you have.
You always have to hold your guard for random pks is what, in my opinion, brings alot of excitement.

The freedom to choose your own path. No laid out quest system or item based characters . Anything you do is completely up to you.

Same as you guys pretty much.
I will forge a path becoming a very powerful crafter.
Just because I will be human does NOT mean that I will be hindered in any way.

i like the idea of the "no class" system, the ability to mold your own characters seems very interesting and will take alot of time to tweak. plus the idea of your guild actually being able to take over a city would be sweet!

After the best mmo swg-precu was destroyed i haven't been able to play any other mmo since, DFO i will be able to play. I like having to acctually think about the game that I'm playing rather than following a pre-set path

My main reason is truly that in MMORPGs there is no longer a middle-ground. World of Warcraft and Warhammer Online, for example, are bending over backwards for a generation of instant gratification, and then Darkfall in many ways I consider as extreme as MUDs that I was playing back in the mid 90's. I would probably prefer something between the two, or at least a wider selection, since I also loved classic Everquest and am anticipating the project working on emulating that experience and providing it as a free server. But Darkfall seems to be the only option for someone hungering for an old-school gaming experience.

i dont mean this in a nasty way but im hoping this will do two things...
The open pvp for all will put some of the less mature persons off, and also the skill system which for me is a revival of the old SWG system and one the things that made it great. Again im hoping as theres no paper beats rock system then alot of the persons from that game we wont mention who are used to the handheld scenario will find this confusing also.
I want this game to be great and whilst it may sound harsh, like EVE the overcomplicated side = a player who is committed to take the time to learn the game, not just hit button A repeatedly until you win.
Hope that made sense

Is this game like old UO before the carebearism of Trammel? or closer to Shadowbane? Is there levels (God I hope not)?

I can experience the entire game, and not have to reroll my character.
The only reason to do so would be to try a different race...but to be honest I can't imagin wanting to stay anything but alfar for long.

The reason I want to play this game is because it seems like it will be so immersive. I have been waiting a long time for a game to come along that created the full illusion of another world.

I just love the epic battles. Exspecialy the big galleon that wiped the others... Also, it would be quite a challenge to survive in this world as a lone wolf, I'd love to try that...

To be able to conquer the whole world. The game has no restrictions or limits, you can do anything you want, if you're up to the task.

Thanks for all the replies :p
It's really fun to learn about people like this.
Also it gives the public a clear view about what to expect from most players.
Come on people, more opinions are welcome! :)

The mapsize
Freedom
etc etc like all the others..
I also love that it is one character pr server only..that way the character will be "you" ..
you may start in a clan farming or whatnot..but your character will develop the way you play it,go where it goes because of your actions and decisions ..
Ending up with the skills you enjoy using the most..and in a position you yourself are to blame for..

Good sense of exploration to be had.
Manual combat; no more LAME ranged classes dominating everything with auto-target crap.
Meaningful risk/reward PvP.

Choosing your own path...and good graphics. They look to be HD Quality. But, cinematics will do that to you. When will graphics with HD Quality come out as games? o.0
Darkfall looks to be amazing and it looks to really open my eyes with a new meaning of a good mmorpg.

Clan politics. No more random or pointless killing. No more killing just because you can. Killing someone because it has some really good reason/purpose! Like belonging to a enemy clan you're in war with.
Ambushing enemy players with your clan friends and such :D

I'm excited for it because I am tired of being able to build a macro, target something, hit one button and go make a sandwich, all the while knowing that you've already won.
FPS style combat is cool, and something that will be loads of fun to try out.

I'm hoping this game will succeed where others with much of the same mechanics failed or were vaporware.

I'm hoping this game will succeed where others with much of the same mechanics failed or ended up being vaporware. Wish comes to mind.
I wish to play this game, because:
- I can construct here the small small house (or big) in a cosy place both there something craft and then to sell. I can put furniture, decorate walls and invite friends who will come with gifts, with which I decorate my small house.
- and at my small house I will dissolve kitchen gardens and I will grow up plants and flowers and to sell another for appearance and a food.
- and sometimes, having got from a secret room the armor and the weapon, I will do attacks on enemies and to kill enemies and to plunder them.
- and when I will return to my small house with the stolen extraction, I will spend time in sorting of trophies according to shelves of my secret room and to brag of trophies to friends....

I'm looking forward to building my character. This has always been one of the most enjoyable parts of a game to me. Trying new skill combinations can prove to be really fun as it changes the way you play your character which can potentially throw a surprise or two at enemies who expect you to fight one way instead of another.

Main reason I want to play this game, is because it mainly just reminds me of the old UO and shadowbane day's. I love pvp, but I've played WoW to much and that just ruined the world of pvp for me. I never pvped in WoW cause it was plain stupid, this is one of the reasons why I'm playing Warhammer till DFO comes out because I want a game to fill in atleast a decent pvp aspect for me instead of the old gay same thing over and over again, but I remember owning and helping destroy cities in shadowbane, and i just want to relive some old memories and maybe run into a few familiar faces :). The main reason I want to play this is because no games these days are enough to keep me entertained. All the MMOs on the market seem so bland and shallow to me. I also am upset that I was too young to enjoy the good days of Ultima Online and, for those role-players out there, DarkAges. It seems like many good games come out but just get ruined. I never got to experience even Starwars Galaxies which really upsets me. The ONLY mmo currently on the market that I respect is EVE. EVE is the only one that has not completely fucked up and is happy with its current audience of gamers.
