Two new clans. Both seem to have come from the absolute shitfest that is Age of Conan. And they both seem to have captured our hearts and fears for some goddamn reason.
Personally I don't think much of either of them,mainly because playing Age of Conan isn't an achievement by any means.

I know I didn't do a poll last week,but that's because Suitepee feels he no longer needs to do a poll every week now that BETA is imminent.
If anything,I'm either going to make these polls more relevant in due course,or abandon them altogether in a final & grand epic poll to end ALL epic polls.

I'll let both clans explain their history to us. Yes,this is your chance to shine in the Suitepee clan poll spotlight. :)

For some reason I try out other crap, it lasts maximum a week before I return to SB, and that continues for 6 years. What I was trying to express that there is no other game which allows you to so clearly feel the pk. To feel the blood running faster in your veins, once again. Have you seen any other game which gives experience for pk? LoL.

Kill anything which moves, don't look at its level, equipment, experience, height, sex, geographic location or religion. Don't think its another player; its only the next victim to give you xp, gold and stuff. Either that, or don't call yourself a PK.

Mobs with slightly better AI. They give xp too, and gold income is so much higher, they also drop phat stuffz quite often eh. Not speaking about entertainment from tells after, no computer can do that good yet.

Murder Herd formed nearly A YEAR before AoC launch and if you've taken a look at our recruiting process at all you'll notice we don't take just anyone (with 150 denied apps and an assload of guild kicks under our belts). Our policy is, any guildy gives us shit or becomes a problem they're out on their ass before they know what happened. We don't stand for retards mucking up the works. Just because we don't take anything seriously and are generally drunk off our asses doesn't mean we're immature, I promise :sly: .

And we're aware AoC is shit so you don't have to keep throwing it in our faces. But if you formed a guild full of people you absolutely loved and then waited a year for a game you thought would be absolutely amazing and everything you had ever wanted (and that included brutal fast pvp, full loot, and incredible gigantic siege battles, by the by) which then turned out to be a huge laggy, spawn-centered, one-shotting fuck fest you'd be just as disgusted as we were. But we gave Funcom the benefit of the doubt and held on hoping and praying it would get better. No go. :bang:

Actually, AoC has the most fun PVP I've ever played.... Except it's laggy, has no risk/reward, and was watered down by spawn points and zones. Other than that the combat is very fluid and feels really really nice... Plus finishing witha fatality can really get the blood flowin.

At the time I was there, we weren't a big guild and we didn't aim to be. I'm sure that concept is beyond you.

We didn't really target you, you weren't any kind of threat and you were on everyone's KoS list, so we mopped you up whenever we saw you.

Our keep was in Purple Lotus. I was in Kesh quite a bit, you guys on the other hand, were rarely around the city where the constant PvP was as I remember.

Yeah, we are well known in AOC. We have fans and bashers. We are not simply an "AOC guild". Most of us play other games (and did before AOC). Members who don't play AOC still hang out in vent, post on the forums, and play other games together. Murder Herd is a group of friends who like to game together and don't take ourselves so fucking serious. This is why we don't mass recruit. It's why our application process is more like a college frat hazing than a serious inquiry into the gaming habits of our applicants. One cannot join if they don't have a sense of humor and a thick as cow-hide skin (pun intended). Too many "gamers" out there would not be comfortable with our laid back attitude and drunken shenanigans (and they would annoy the hell out of us).

Bottom line : Murder Herd brought fun to a game which sorely was in need of fun. The server was RPPVP and we held RPPVP events on it (omg adding to the community instead of griefing it which is what everyone thought we would do simply based on our guild name:eek:). Many of the people on that server take(took) themselves way too serious, we helped to lighten the mood. Don't like us? We don't care. Like us? We still don't care. True PK is when you own so hard that your victims quit the game for good and forget its name. Even more, when you enjoy it that much that you literally jump out of the chair irl when you kill someone in the most hard, evil, ridiculous, offending way and laugh at the hate tells.

This way approximately 90% of the Shadowbane population (what it was at release) quit, spewing the bullshit about bugs, absense of proper support, sb.exe, absense of balance, laggy servers, cheating dicks, long reboots, rare updates, often wipes and other crap. When in fact they were just too weak.

This has been all rather amusing. I would just like to say my little piece which isnt aimed at anyone at all

I personally hate how people PvP to the point that it makes people leave a game. I love PvP...I love being attacked out of no where and trying to defend myself. I also love the added tension of watching your back while trying to quest/farm etc. However when people just grief you over and over then that is not fun and isnt in the nature of these games.

My other point is it is easy for a guild to be a griefing guild. There is no "secret talent" taught by zen masters. All you have to do is attack everything on sight especially if it is lower lvl...if it isnt call in more members. What I like to achieve out of these games is an escape from reality where I can craft and quest and PvP and enjoy myself for the couple of hours that I am online. A guild that has good honest members who strive for the betterment of the community and make the game somewhere that promotes more members to join then they are a guild that I will respect....

To somewhat conclude this thread, I see that there are very few people here (specifically 2) which understand the difference between PvP and PK. Yes, those are different.

What every mofo here is speaking about is PvP. Yea, those friendly fights, you know when you kindly invite your foe to the arena to test out your mutual battle skills, or when you PvP having community health in mind, like this:

A guild that has good honest members who strive for the betterment of the community and make the game somewhere that promotes more members to join then they are a guild that I will respect....


To be honest, the last thing I care about is some carebear's respect.


What I like to achieve out of these games is an escape from reality where I can craft and quest and PvP and enjoy myself for the couple of hours that I am online.

Carebear because of this. First craft and quest, then PvP. Thank God Shadowbane has neither crafting nor questing.

Can you imagine a game where you get maximum level during a day (yesterday I did that in 10 hours), and that ends your PvE on this char. Then you take couplea hours to train and gear yourself up. Everything which happens after these 12 hours, is PK. No crafting, no questing, no other means to sit there and do some crap when you should go out and PK. Welcome to Shadowbane.

However when people just grief you over and over then that is not fun and isnt in the nature of these games.


This isn't in the nature of these games; except for Shadowbane, and I so hope Darkfall.

Why I speak so much about SB here, is that probably every Shadowbane player feels that Darkfall will be highly upgraded, bigger, smarter, more massive, bugless Shadowbane 2.0. I surely hope so as well.

We hope to oblige you and everyone else. PK to me is an attitude not a playstyle. We carry ourselves with character as much as we can, and we're grateful for those who play along with it. We're a non-allianced PVP clan so basically we become KOS to the server in return.
There is a method to our madness, but not many people see it I guess.
AND YES! We have people from time to time break these rules and get called out for it. Believe me, we correct those who do. And you know whats fuckin ironic about it all? We set these rules to our guildmates and when we get pad camped (we don't do that) and we finally snap and pad camp back or play dirty a bit - they run to OOC, the forums, our forums etc to be a town cryer.

Well, what can you say about a KOS guild that actually has rules and respect for the PVP in the game? Ya shitstain us for breakin our rules when you pigs play with no respect and PK people like a future 25 to Lifer IRL.

Anywho rant aside, they're just being a douche cuz they can and we correct ourselves while people spread the word around. You should be so lucky to be in a chaotic clan and have only one rule - Be a piece of shit. Not us, though.

Please, uphold us to it as everyone else has before. But at least respect that the majority of the time we play like our charter says we do, and that we follow a charter to begin with - while being an agressive pvp clan at the same time.

Using shadowbane as an example. Sieges were anything but a mutual agreement. Sending groups to try and grab the commander rune with the 12 theives sitting on the fringes was not a "fair" fight at any time. Watching track like a hawk because if you didnt your group would get rolled over by one of the whole nations of evil fuckers was not equivalent to "lets go have a tourny".

pvp is any attack any time. it happens and there is a line between it and griefing pk but that line is extremely hard to define.

You see a thousand of people (dunno the exact number, something like that on Thurin server) who login every time with the only sole purpose - to PK. They don't craft, they don't quest, they don't build except for that first month on server (and only coz they have to, to gear up), they even don't farm mostly, they don't PvE coz PvE ends after the first day.

Every fucking minute, every damn second is FILLED with PK. You don't do anything else, you PK until you die, then you repair and PK again.

Every single one of them has Killer on Bartle test of 100%+. Every freaking guild on every freaking server kills on sight anyone not belonging to their nation, and some of them even kill their own nation. NONE of them looks at person's level, SB experience, equipment, guild affiliation or anything else, they just see - kill - loot, search - see - kill - loot, bank, search again. If you ask me what guilds and what levels have I killed today, I won't remember any, coz I don't care.

Many of them are doing that, and mostly JUST that, for SIX years.

Basically, if you gather together the worst griefers, murderers, thieves, liers, backstabbers, and generally dicks in the whole MMORPG history, you will get today's Shadowbane community.

Good news is this community is coming over to Darkfall. Everyone.

The same comparison could be made about the retards who have been playing Diablo 2 online every day for the past 6 years. They must rock at PVE right since all they do is kill bosses all day long every day right?

I'm not particularly impressed by anyones video game track record, most of the people here who boast the length of their Shadowbane e-peens are just looking for some social compensation for the <x> years of their life they wasted playing a dead end game. There, I said it.

Heh. Shadowbane had its flaws like every game did. And it did eventually follow the stages every open pvp game does. But the mourning server in particular stayed political and awesome all the way up untill wow came out. And thats when shadowbane died.

To everyone still playing it, there's no better game. Until Darkfall.

Also, as I said, I read your post and I got it. It only sort of built on what I said when you quoted me and wrote it. And there is nothing new I can contibute to that discussion beyond what I already said. There is a line between pk and all the millions of other reasons that any given fight can be legit pvp. There is a line. But I don't know how to define it. because anyone can see any fight as pvp or just a dumb ass pk. You really don't know unless you know why the killer did it.
