After a while what would happen if all of Agon was under the flag of one clan? every city every island every ship.

Would it be fair the P-wipe everyone? for the semi large number of people that want to be induviduals but cant be.

Like david vs an armada of golithe's
More importantly do you think it would be done?

Edit: Like p-whipe and scatter the majority of the people to different servers

Another pointless thread. No guild can rule everything. If a "super power" did rise high enough, others would want to take them down. Some people love playing the underdog and since this is not real life, people are not afraid to go against the more powerful group and have fun trying to destroy them.

Doubt it will happen, considering the the difficulties involved in enforcing executive power. Besides, with race alignments and the difficulties maintaining an all-race clan, holding settlements across the entire landscape of Agon with a single or double race clan would be far too difficult to accomplish. There are always enemies.

Would it be fair the P-wipe everyone? for the semi large number of people that want to be induviduals but cant be. Absolutely not. No. Rediculous idea. Wouldn't need it anyways (refer above)

And besides, it would be nigh impossible for one clan to rule all of Agon

Why not just mobilise everyone on the server not part of the "dominant" faction (every merc, clan, loner) and hit it on EVERY frount?
if a clan is big enough to control everything it would probaly be the roman empire all over again as the clan would be to big to defend itself properly.

also what stops you making more ships?

I remember in Shadowbane there was a guild, Deathhead Legion, they got bigger and bigger and were big for a very long time. At their peak they ruled almost 1/2 the world map, and the bigger they got, the more alliances formed against em.

They went from owning about 1/2 the map to not having a single plot practically over night. Never saw their crest on the world map ever again.

Reset button FTL. What's the incentive to make your guild epic if the developers are just going to piss your fire out whenever they feel like it.

Some big guild might rule for months, or a year, but it will be entirely up to the other players. No guild will have the majority of the players on the server.

i think they already have game mechanics inplace to prevent this. they said that if siege a city all of your own citys would be able to be sieged by the clan you are sieging so it would be almost imposible to siege someone and protect all of your other citys at the same time

If they're so awesome as to beat every idiot on the server they deserve to reign supreme.

It won't happen. the only reset i want to see in darkfall is when they go from beta to the retail. otherwise it should never happen. It would be aswome if they launched new servers every half year or so, but never restart their long standing ones.

Answer to OP: yes. Although I agree with every single post in here that it is virtually impossible to do, should it actually happen, there should be a reset somewhere in the lines of a latter reset in Diablo II, just to keep everything interesting.

This is possible only in theory. Here are the main reasons why:
First, there are 44 city sites and 53 hamlet sites. We know that declaring a siege on any of those city sites and possibly any of the hamlet sites as well (sieging hamlets has not been clarified yet) will automatically make all of your city and possibly hamlet sites vulnerable. That means that the time that it takes for the clanstone to become "vulnerable", which is to say several hours (which I think is still in the game from the Gloomer days, although it hasn't been fully clarified since the challenge shard system emerged), is suddenly gone from all of your cities. (Even if the system changed, this "vulnerability" has been stated since the challenge shard system has been implemented, and so it certainly means something.) Therefore every addition to your empire you make gets harder and harder, because you wind up having to defend every single asset that you have as you get that new asset. Sure, it's no big deal really when you're getting your second city and have to defend your first one, but what about when you're getting your 30th one and have to defend all 29 of the others?

(Pardon this wall of text, I don't know how to split it.)

Second, there are caps on the number of individuals that can bind to a clanstone. According to fairly old info, these are around 100, but as I recall they do vary from clanstone to clanstone. Don't expect them to exceed about 200 though. (These numbers include both clan members and NPC guards). This makes it hard for you to hold a city that is heavily under siege, since you can't bind your entire fricking clan to that clanstone. It also makes it so zergs need more clanstones, which in turn (because of all of these reasons) makes it less likely for them to exist in the first place.

Third, instant travel is difficult and rare in Darkfall, and travel time is long. If you don't see how this hurts zergs, you fail.

Fourth, ridiculously huge empires have historically fallen apart from the inside once they are put under pressure from outside forces, both IRL and in MMOs. Look at BoB in EVE for an example in an MMO. If you don't recognize the obvious historical examples, you fail.

Fifth, once an empire has more than 10 or so cities, their neighbors will probably say "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" and weaken them down to 2 or 3 cities before going back to killing one another.

Wait, are you actually trying to say that BoB dominated all of EVE? Or were you making my point and saying that even they, with their obscene amount of power, fell apart under pressure?
