I read that there will be a reflect spell skill is in the game. I wonder if this is going to lead to base mage fights where casting reflect over and again would be the main tactic.

It very much depends on the highest reflection chance you may reach. If they aren't dumb, they didn't make it too high.

we know nothing about it, infact we hardly know anything about magic in the game and how it works, so really can't say, i would assumeyou cant just cast reflect over and over though.

Not if they give reflect a moderately high mana cost. Then dodging and shooting some lightning bolts would be better use of that mana.

Well even a melle fighter would do alot better wit this spell up just for any expedition they go on! It just a really nice option for safety and leaves me to believe mages might very well be very powerful DPS wize.

Didn't one of the dev journals say that most spells will require reagents? You'd just be wasting them if all you did was spam a reflective shield.

Learn to feint, juke, dodge, use your environment.

Well its a free damage spell against an aggressor. If used and timed right could easily turn a battle to your favor. I just remember In old UO the nasty reflect battles we had zinging magic arrows back and forth to knock down reflection. Then timing that one reflect right as your opponent had an ebolt or flamestrike cursor up and leveling him to cinders with his own spell. Its not just spamming its tactics and timing!

It wouldnt be that big a deal. Cast an AOE at his feet, lets see him reflect magic that wasn't aimed at him.
Edit:
Plus, the chances of your own magic coming back and hitting you would seem slim. Since everything has to be aimed. Maybe a portion of the magic is reflected depending on skill? And then it would even have to hit the guy again. Or shoot an arrow at him?

If the reflect in DF actually throws the spell back I sure hope it's the projectile that gets thrown back, not the damage.
