I dont know if this topic is quite suitful for this advanced part of forum..correct me if I am wrong...
The question is:
Will there be any usual racial benefits like Orks exelling in melee , elves in archery , dwarves in crafting e.t.c.?
If thiis to be applied then it would be really lame, because in war situations Orks would own but wouldnt have that nice equipment crafted by Dwarves, and when the elves come in they would rip all of the races from afar but would really suck in close combat....

You basically answered it yourself at the end. Yes there are racial benefits, and each race has benefits. But they're all (pretty) balanced.

hmmm...i hope so..
however it would be fine if there were only starting bonuses..u know like Orks start with +20 in melee, elves with + 20 in archery, but all they would end up at max of 100 ...that would be more fair...imho

They will likely be in the form of stat bonuses. So, the stats that you start out with, and perhaps the max stats that you can attain, are advantageous for certain skills while being less advantageous for others. You can overcome this disadvantage if you want to.
Also, there are some skills that are race specific. Dwarves, for instance, have access to some mage crafting skills that noone else does.

I hear that racial bonus's only affect 5% of your character. Only 5% of you is changed, the other 95% is up to you.

Dwarves have their usual racial trait of being better but shorter than everyone else.
Everyone else just has STD

They havent revealed many of them, a lot of the people replying to this thread are just guessing.
What we know:
Dwarves are good at crafting Magical Armor and they dont run as fast as Humans.
Mahirim have a mountform where they can be their own mount.
Mirdain get some type of bow proficiency and magical proficientcy.
What devs have hinted at in various threads:
Alfar are good with xbows and may have night vision.
Orcs are strong, whatever that means, Prolly a melee bonus.
Please feel free to add to this list if you find something a dev mentioned that I missed or forgot.

Mirdain are born with an aptitude for magic, and though there are exceptions, most of them obtain at least a smattering of magical skills. Most mirdain children learn to hunt as they grow up, and as a result, they tend to excel with the bow later in life.
I think thats more than hinting about mirdain w/ bows, but w.e - Does anyone think that certain races will start with diff weapons? Like mirdain starts with bows, orcs with axes, hummans with swords, dwarves with hammers, etc...

i dont know, in all UO servers i played i always started only with shirt, pants and not more of 1k gp lol

Wrestling! One of UO's best.
I remember on Pacific maybe, there was some big event back near the launch where Hulk Hogan fought Lord British in a one on one match. I forget the details ... I just remember Hogan looking like the red and yellow machine. British was scarred stupid.

All I know is that elves excel in penetration damage.

You're wrong on the Alfar part, we have ethnic superiority and the god king given rigth to cleanse Agon of all lesser beings! :ohno:

You can fight with your fist AFAIK the Mahirim special weapon is a fist weapon and if you wath the vid when the orcs jump off the boat to attack the castle one of them is wearing spiked bands on his knuckles
and to the dude above you you start with noob and respawn with noob gear

I read an article which had a list of the six races (from physically strongest to weakest): Orks, Dwarves, Mahirim, Humans, Mirdain, Alfar
& for intelligence, the list is reversed: Alfar, Mirdain, Humans, Mahirim, Dwarves, Orks
It didn't list any specifics on the actual beginning stat differences, but it still looks like everything will be pretty well balanced in the long run.
