Does anyone know why we have to input clan details?
I'm not a clan member, sadly I didn't look into finding a clan when the registrations were open.
But since clan registrations etc have already been done wouldn't they know the clan details of each user who signed up for beta, if they had any?
As it is, I could say I'm from a clan of whoever even if I just made it up or picked an existing clan at random. Is there a reason for this?
Comments pls

I would be willing to bet that your clan affiliation has little to do with your beta acceptance. Your machine specs and your location are top of the list.
There are probably clan mechanics that they need to test out in beta and the only way to do that is to have organized people in a clan. That way they can let in people that are already organized.

The two tables - beta applicants and forum registrants will be linked so they will know if you lied on your application or it may even just be discarded if the clan name does not match that of your forum account's clan. But who knows..

I wouldn't do that, and if you did, go edit it. It might not matter but they are asking for the EXACT clan name that you have on forumfall, which implies to me that the field is read automatically and matched. They won't be reading each application separately will they :)

That would probably make them reject your apply for filling in an non-excistant clan.

Sod the clan beta, i want to beta test as an individual, just like I did for many other games including quake live which im still beta testing now. I will not join a clan until I know i will enjoy the game and two, find a clan worthy with players of the same abilities.

probably to connect you to a guild so you don't get two emails when beta comes.

Clan affiliations are now editable as of the most recent news update and so you may now change your clan affiliation and "they" will know about it :)

I don't really think they have time for this kind of shit. But who knows...

I think you're all missing the point. My question was:
They HAVE the clan info already, why ask for it again?

I think the answer is pretty obvious and self-explanatory.
"Alright we got the web page all set-up so that people will have to register for beta... Hmm, but there's only six forms to fill out... That's a pretty unimpressive amount... Let's throw in clan name and URL. Yea, that'll make it eight. Eight's a good number. Do that."

If clan had nothing to do with it, they wouldn't put that field there. And they put it there so if you change clans or w/r.

I dont think it matters if you signed up with a clan or not.
