Pink Floyd isn't metal... I wouldn't call Dream Theater metal either. But if you want to listen to some more progressive / psychedelic rock bands I would suggest Emerson Lake & Palmer, Genesis, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Yes, and Gentle Giant.

I would recommend checking out some of the so called "new wave of Thrash" that's going on right now. There are a lot of diverse bands out there that get there influence from the old guys of thrash, and many of them are just starting to get record deals and such.
