Ah yes, it only seems like yesterday. In fact it was over 6 months in the making. I found my soul yearning to do more. DF had me. I was hooked. I did the raids, I traversed the caverns, creeks, oceans, meadows and mountains. I had sailed the waters and sampled the fruits of the world. I had battled hundreds if not thousands and been almost defeated many times against overwhelming foes. I slaved day and night for DF. I had made few friends and lost many. I knew the land. I knew it's riches and dangers.

The one thing that I loved the most was those fruits of it's soil. Ah Yes, the fruits. A farmer I shall become. I grew tired of battle but still loved DF. Then it hit me. I shall share my DF love and it's bounties with other souls of my world. A farmer. A giver of DF's treasures indeed I shall become.

Eventually I found my place. A lovely place, so peaceful, so wild and overflowing with wonder. A house I soon built. Strong and true. Abounding with gardens and treasures for all. I loved that ground. I loved harvesting and crafting wonderful things. It would soon became like a mother to me.

But, alas one day a few intruders came. Those intruders ripped my house from its DF earth. They tore it from its mother. My work, my love was lost in a single event. DF had worked its evil magic. Intruders whom could not be contained or controlled were allowed to ravage my hard work. They were allowed to discredit my contributions and steal all my gifts. They were unstoppable and self righteous. There were no rules in place to prevent this. There were no rules in place to circumvent their carnage. And there wasn't any equal retaliation I could impose upon them. I posted my concerns to the Lords of DF. They did not reply. I petitioned and called council again and again and my concerns only fell on deaf ears. And soon the nay sayers of reality quickly proclaimed
"Get over it, start again, it's only a game."

This of course is just a scenario. There aren't any facts in either direction. It is purely fictional. I hold neither parties responsible. But, its all about how hard we as gamers work to create toons and evolve within the devs world. We develop real relationships in that world. Relationships with its economy, it's environment and grow within its preset boundries. For it truly is never our own. No matter how much we pay per month.
