How many times have you seen a troll get a perfectly good thread locked?

Staff needs to look into their moderation practices. Sometimes a thread is beyond repair and needs to be locked. Other times, one person has purposely derailed it for the purpose of having it locked. Locking a thread in this case is counterintuitive to the basic standards of running an on line community.

Consider deleting posts and issuing warnings, rather than locking every thread that a troll posts in.

I agree with you but this thread is probably going to get locked too, I'd much rather see the trolls get banned than good topics ruined, could consider it population control as well, I wouldn't want to see some assholes here get in beta because you'd know they wouldn't report anything.

i agree, but in most instances another thread appears to carry on the previous conversation anyways. with new threads comes new participants and therefore a more interesting read. imo i doesnt matter, all topics get rehashed over and over again anyway...
