View Full Version : Who's falling in the water first? Cali or Florida?

Supreme Kimone

Was having a dumb conversation with a friend about cali being predicted to seep into the ocean. I then brought about Florida and how it sucks with Natural disasters as well being hurricanes, I know Louisiana has gotten the worse of it but wish so much swamp land in that area can't Florida/Louisiana fade away into the ocean first with ocean levels rising and ect?

Been away for a while, good to see same faces all around :sly:

I predict florida will win first place, but because of global warming, not a hurricane or earthquake.

The fact that Florida has so much wetlands indicates that it is lower in elevation than California, so I'm going to go with Florida. Also, its greatest distance from the ocean is less than that of California, so even if the floodwaters engulf them at the same rate in terms of distance, they'll have fully engulfed Florida long before they fully engulf California.

You forgot to add the impending WW3 into your calculation. With the dozens of nukes headed to Cali, the vaporization of that much water makes Cali unlikely to flood (baring a collapse into the sea).

Oceanianic water levels will rise by up to 7 meters (the lower end of the estimate is 1 meter) by 2100 while lakes and rivers will shrink most likely.

Now California is primarily a hilly landscape while Florida is rather flat. A rise in water level would cause destruction of some Cali landscape (especially in some lower ares by the water), but would primarily be rather untouched. Florida on the other hand, along with a lot of the SE US will be engulfed.

florida is much closer to sea lvl, but californias problem is the land itself, so many faultlines some say its a its only a matter of time before it cracks apart and falls into the ocean. I live in florida, and as this conversation is going on we have 3 hurricane/possible hurricanes on the way. and there are still towns having flood problems from the last storm. not that it will matter in 5-10 yrs florida will be one big condo, and if it sinks into the ocean then, good riddance

California due to a technicality. Florida wont fall in the water due to tectonic shifts, it'll get flooded and washed away by hurricanes and Global Warming.

Cali... Sooner or later terrorists are going to nuke the land side border, triggering a massive earthquake that will shake the state loose from the US. At which point one of two things will happen.

A) Beach front property.
B) Radiation will completetly and utterly destroy both coast lines and Cali will become a new massive penetentury for criminals and terrorists...

Or both may occur... Which will lead to mutated criminals/terrorists fighting over radiated beach front property.

Ah but the one you are thinking of was all Michael Moore'd up. Escape from LA was a much less biased documentary, since it was done by the same people who did that one about Manhattan being full of criminals. I think the title was Escape from New York (I know I have wanted to escape each time I had to go there).

Nothing good comes out of Cali aside from fags and stupid laws. Everyone is up in your buisness in that state. At least in Florida nobody bothers you. Oh and Florida doesnt have super dirty shit beaches like Cali. I can never figure out why anyone vacations in Cali. Bad beaches, insane prices, assholes all over the place and some of the most anti freedom laws in the country.
