I assume noone, because post-count will not in any way increase your chances to get into beta.
Good to know. Are they just looking for those who offer suggestions, then?

Post count does not make a difference. This is what makes a big portion of a difference to get into the beta. But being active I guess does make a difference just not the post count.
The Beta selection will be in stages, based on criteria which include:
* Hardware specs (we need to test on a wide variety of hardware)
* Your Location
* Clan beta applications
* Darkfall community involvement
A degree of randomness is added to the process giving everyone the opportunity to be accepted.
* Darkfall community involvement
This is the part I was associating with post count.

No they are looking at system specs, then location, then they are giving people like me a bit more top priority. I have been actively posting in the forums for the last 5 years. Not really a post count issue.
Also vbulletin has a stat called words per post. It's an overall average of your words per post, which I really hope / believe the devs are looking at more then even post count.
That means all those +1 IBL people really shot themselves in the foot a bit.
Overall though its more on specs, and location, then anything.

By community involvement, they meant people they have been active on the forums for years. They probably won't even look at post counts or reg dates, just ask themselves "Who are the more well known people on the forums (or irc)."
I'm gathering informations about the game... thats the reason why I'm posting ...

I'd be pretty shocked if post count made any difference at all. It shouldn't because it'd be really easy to ramp your post count up with one line posts in every thread.
Some of us honestly want to help people learn about the game, and therefore spread the good word :p

I don't know really. Since I have 8000+ but rarely bring something constructive to the table I think I post because I have too few other pastimes.

I think they said that mainly to keep people who have been around for a long time happy. post-count doesn't matter, long term follower tags and just active following might.

Heh, interesting replies. I mostly asked because when I was on this forum prior, there were hardly any posts per day. The fact that there were several posts today, in combination with the community involvment part of the beta acceptance, I thought maybe this question would get some 'yes' responses.
The lack of regular posting was a major reason I never got sucked into the forums. Looks like that has changed. Awesome! I really look for a strong community in an MMO, along with the PvP aspect that is promised with Darkfall =D

i post because im bored and want to, because i do indeed wish to get post count and community activity up, and because the more "noobs" that are 'educated' in DF, the better. more people to fight, more people to play.

I've been following this game since I first heard about it years ago. Not much of a lurker or contributer, but every once in a while I come back to check on things. I got an email this morning about the beta, so I signed up, and am again pouring over the forums for info.
So far the only thing I have learned is never say the 'L' word. For some reason it is like a shark feeding frenzy. :D

I think its way too late to start posting now thinking it will raise chances of getting in. Majority of ppl (including me) have a higher chance from random selection then from any merit based acceptance.
Best thing to do now is to NOT post things that will exclude you from Beta.

I don't think many people here are posting just to get into beta. Almost all of the posts here are trolling and if they were to look at the highest post counts im fairly certain the trolling works against them in this situation.

I'm posting and polling because it's a new game and it's going to be great. It's also nice to get an understanding of what people are coming from and currently play. Not concerned so much about the length of a post, but more about the quality.

Well, I created my forum account just for Beta, but I´m been watching the development for a huge long time ;)
Not posting much anyway, still reading lots but only posting when there is something worthy to comment on and that I have also something to say about it.... I vote on polls though, that I do always.
I don´t mind that much getting into beta because there are benefits on missing it. Basically being enjoying the game when it is "totally completed"... betas can be dangerous on your opinion of a game, warhammer online was going to be awesome in my mind, until I played its beta and that totally changed my opinion into a shell empty of interest... even though I´m a warhammer IP fan! I have several armies etc.

I'm posting because I think this is going to be a cool game that has a lot of potential. It's like... XBox 360 live games, they would be sooo good if the games had more time put in.

I barely ever post on any game forums i'm in. I usually just use them to gather information about the games i'm interested in and that means that most of the time i'm just a guest.
i made myself a member to apply for a spot in beta but in all likeliness won't get it. that doesn't bother much though, 'cause i can still just look in the forums at what beta testers say about their experiences. i can usually pick the personalities that closely match mine and they're the posts i pay most attention to when describing their game experience.
as far as recognition goes. i only really need to know peeps on the server i'm playing on so again, no biggie for me.
P.S. my posts are usually long because of the infrequent amount of them that i make :)

99% likely not, but atleast post after the beta announcement are garantueed not to be taken into account. The remaining 1% chance is that they might actually look at the post history of the older members. The only reason why tey might actually do something like that though is because this devteam is actually different from the rest and might do something beyond the norm. I wouldnt count on it though.
Its nice to hope though, considering I've been here basically from the start =P *keeps dreaming*
One thing is fore sure though. Anyone spamming posts at this point in hopes of upping his chance to get into beta is just a fool.

Haha well I joined this forum a long time ago :P
Loved how this game looked. I drifted away from it when I realized it wasnt going to happen anytime soon :P
I actually thought the game fell through haha. I was happily suprised to see the email today. Oddly enough, I was telling my friend about this game a few days ago. Hadnt thought about it for a year or more.
so yea, I'm posting in hopes of getting into the beta :P Im all excited over this game again.

I'm posting this reply to get into beta! Ok, not really. I'd like to say I've been following this game for a long long long time. LONG before I even made a forum account. A lot of people like me have recently only made accounts and are now posting because there is a lot of activity coming about. Also, I doubt post count has anything to do with it. Seeing as Tasos and so on watch the forum and reply they kinda have an idea of who's been hanging around and are good constructive members of the community.
However, do not let this discourage you from posting. We always need something to talk about :P. The question I wonder is if good hardware raises your chances of getting in. Mine is pretty good...I just built it. From my way of thinking it wouldn't, unless no one else had good hardware except myself and I seriously doubt that. Seeing as they need to test the game on many configurations to find a low point for minimum requirements and to see how it affects gameplay, it will probably be a bit random and have nothing to do with hardware, but just random choices between a certain broad area of different specs. Any Comments on this?

Not posting because I think or hope that I will get into the beta..there are people with "over 9000" posts here..

Been a long time lurker myself.
Officially signed up with a user account a little over a month ago now I guess.
Never really post much, long time ago I got some advice from someone that said if I didn't have anything meaningful to add to a conversation, then I should stay quiet.. that advice has gotten me pretty far in life so far, and works well in these worlds as well. Something a lot of people here need to learn yet I think.

personally we all know people post purely because they feel they will get into the beta more.
As ive said before getting into beta is almost bragging rights nowdays and i feel a silly way to base all that hard earned R&D and game dev time to put jus the highest posters in.
Post count as I said doesnt automatically make you a good beta tester.
But people still believe if they try to make friends with the admins/mods they will get treated preferentially.
It will always happen and will sometimes work, I feel forum or post count in anyway shouldnt come into it.
And im not saying that because ive just joined. Ive said Im not bothered if I get - ofc I want to and the game excites me, I will beta test properly and do my reviews of it when the NDA is lifted but if they dont they dont.
Its only a game and Im sooo sick of hearing people in game start the sentence with "in beta I was ...blah blah"
Clearly these are the beta players not testers. Imo not the sort of people I would want in my game if I had the time inclination or money.

While beta applications for games usually claim to prefer people who are "active in the game's community forums", that's not especially true. The mere fact of having a forum account meets that criterion.
This is important to understand: there's nothing you can actually do to increase your chances of getting into a closed beta, unless you have hardware that the devs want more testers for. Knowing how to beta test also helps (in theory, but how would they know you do?), since most people picked from the community to be in a beta don't. It's not really supposed to be a free chance to play the game early. It's supposed to be an opportunity to fix bugs. That involves first finding them, which you have to go out of your way to do 99% of the time.

I am sort of posting so that I can get into beta... Now that I think about it, if I wanted to get into beta, I should have been active for a while. But now that I realize it, I want to get my chances as high as possible, even if it is raising it from 1% to 1.5%. But this is the first game I have ever been excited about before it actually came out. Also, this is the first forum I have actually actively posted on, even if it wasn't that much.
