View Full Version : Some pvp questions

Hi there, i'm new.

I wanted to discuss about some pvp stuffs:
(you can answer the questions)

-What race to choose, and why?
I'm undecided between Alfars and Mahirim.
Surely there'll be no great difference between Alfars and Mirdains, so i'll choose the one with the best avatar :p

Mahirim has the advantage of running even without a ride. If anyone comes from Ultima Online (from samurai empire exp), surely knows that the "wolf form" was a great advantage.
In spite of, Alfars seems to be more like warmages (more or less), so the character can be more versatile.

-What class to choose, and why?
I was oriented to an assassin type. If the assassin can use venom, i think it'll be very annoying in combat to always cure from venom.
So, poison user, combined with a bit of magic. I think this would be the perfect support class, and also a good lone fighter.

-Weapons
I read that wepons are affected by lenght. So, for the character i've described, i'd like to use multiple weapons like: knives/daggers for poison coupled with short sword or some other "unusual" item (like items that can make special moves or has special features); also some damage weapons (like long sword or something like that..); and defence items (like shield & weapon).

-Armor
Weight of the armor affect the speed of the character. I thought it could be cool to use two type of armors: one for close combat (so a mid-heavvy one) and one for support (a light one, which makes the character faster on the battlefield).

Opinions, opinions, opinions

(sorry 'bout my bad english :D)

Not all advantes/disadvantages of all races are known. so choosing a race is more a "i like it" thing

There are no classes in this game. you can only choose skills.

i wouldnt suggest you take too much weapons with you. once you die (and you will often) you lose all of the weapons

the same goes for armor. if you have 2 sets of armor with you, you will lose both of them. and since you cant wear that much, you cant loot as much stuff

Yup i know the possibility of being looted, and that's the smaller problem :D

About races... Ok, perhaps for the other races, but for mahims the feature of "wolf run" (or wathever u want to call it), is a GREAT advantage in pvp.. no?

The Alfar are the choice of people who have the balls to make 5/6 of the population their enemies from day one.:D

You should really pick a race according to the lore and general feel at this point since the racial advantages haven't been made public.

-What class to choose, and why?
I was oriented to an assassin type. If the assassin can use venom, i think it'll be very annoying in combat to always cure from venom.

If you want to go all lederhosen and dual wield dildo sized objects then you should go mirdain.

Imo, if you want to go support you might wanna pick a bow & alchemy + magic.

If you do wind up being Alfar you might wanna go with polearms (The alfar racial weapon is a poisoned polearm.) for your 'assassin'.

When the guy with full plate comes charging you'll need to keep him far away 'cause your leather isn't gonna do well agains an axe etc.

-Armor
Weight of the armor affect the speed of the character. I thought it could be cool to use two type of armors: one for close combat (so a mid-heavvy one) and one for support (a light one, which makes the character faster on the battlefield).

Wouldn't be efficient since you'd have to carry 2 sets of armor and switch around all the time.

EDIT:

depends...
The Alfar with a drake is gonna beat the shit out of a 4 legged mahirim, since the mahirim can only perform mount level attacks in that form, where as the Alfar will be doing mount+ player..

The only benefit is that you don't need to buy a mount.

if it is possible to go into "wolf run" during battle than you lose your ability to attack with weapons, cast spells or use a shield. dont know if it is worth it...

Sure, but if u got smashed, and without a ride, all the enemies will target you. If u can run as mounted, you can escape the fight :P

But I have to test all this stuffs ;_;

No matter :D

If it's Skill based , as UO was, talking about "assassin" instead of "rogue" and so on, is the same thing :D

Oh god I feel home here, 'tought that pvp was dead :D

I hope not, i never like the idea of prestiges classes..

About the questions.. well you need more information to answer :p

The Mihirim fast run mode will be useful for escaping from battles, especially from fighters (because a mage, probably have a paralyze spell).. i want to see it, because it can be very unbalanced.. if a Mahirim is about to die, he can switch to 4 foot and escape, and probably you wont kill him, except you are mounted
