Is it possible to write your name in Darkfall, like here in Forums? I mean with numbers and big letters, for example my nick? ( hendR1 )

Numbers are in, but they are limited.
You can see in the newest video, that a guy have numbers in his name.

That could be limited to GM's, i really hope it is.

As far as i know, a few months ago in a dev journal it was said numbers and even some special characters were in. This caused a lot of feedback from forumfall, including some polls which clearly favored no numbers. Some time after that they said numbers would be out if the users wanted it so badly.

Apparently they thought it would limit our creativity and would result in too few names available on the servers (nfi why, because every other mmo managed just fine without numbers).

I'd rather have the added option of a surname than seeing "L3g0las" "Leg0l4s" "Leg0la5" running around.

I hope you don't plan on naming yourself hendR1 in-game.

Paraskeuas is a Greek name.

I'm still hoping for a strict RP server. With no names such as "l33t" and "ha40rz" an "uberpwner". Seriously! If your going so far out of your way to make a game that's different, that has so many role play and immersion concepts, limit names to "normals". I'd much prefer to have to have a surname as mentioned above. I can't stand it when you see a guy run past with some retarded variation of a name. "Ramb0w007" or something equally stupid.

Just my thoughts on the topic anyways :P

No special servers with more rules? Well that blows. Definitely doesn't follow the general trend of MMO's.. But hell, what about Darkfall does?

If that is the case, which I hope it's not. No numbers PLEASE. :P

I REALLY hope they have a Roleplaying server that is actually enforced.

Someone should start yet another pole:ohno:

No numbers, no special characters! Fuck, we've got approximately 26 characters which are almost freely configurable in endless combinations of various length, which people use to call words (in that particular case -- names). There is absolutely no need for anything else! :bang:

A little contribution for those having problems with character names, check here (http://www.20000-names.com/).

i agree RP servers should be enforced to have names that you would actually see, nothing like Themage Castingfool

You can kill anyone with a number in their name, but I also think you should be able to kill someone of your own race without taking an alignment hit if they have a number in their name.

Well seeings as this is not Lotr and it is a Sand Box game this might just have to be some thing to accept.

I am strongly against number for names. I would enjoy seeing characters beyond the normal English alphabet (e.g. æ, ê, ʒ, ç, ð), but some might pose some bother that disqualifies their use (to say naught of particularl exotic ones, e.g. Ƿ, ȝ, Ʋ).

dont bother. you have to have a first and last name for your char.

Why do so many people want numbers in their charnames?
Its only a sign of a dumb or immature mind.
What a horrible imagination if Tolkien would have created characters like G4nd4lf, Fr0d0 or Gimli32.

Ya everyname should be unique, hope they have that random generator like WOW

indeed, the Wow name system was just great! but it had some flaws, like ne spaces in the name. I really hope that in DF there will be no numbers in name system, and if there are to be RP servers i would like to see some GMs checking out the player names to be at "normal" level. I think that DF will simply own all the other MMOs and i wouldnt like to see me playing a game like Lineage2 with all those 1337 names... :p

there are no 'RP' servers. all servers are the same. you have to have a first and last name. the end.

and the WoW system was screwed up. more than half of the names they suggested were already taken. it took me 45 minutes just to find a name that wasnt taken once, when i transferred a char.

Last I read, each character's combination of first and last names must be unique. It's not like WoW where your first name has to be unique.

12. How is the naming going to work and what characters are permitted in names?

Right now we allow only letters of the English alphabet, the underscore, and limited use of numbers. You select a first and a last name and this combination has to be unique.

With this in mind, there really isn't a reason to use numbers. Use the name you want as your first name and make something up for the last name to make it unique.

Same here, I actually took it for granted that Farkdall would have a dedicated rp server until I read otherwise in a dev journal/faq. Apparently it is up to the player base to moderate their own servers... i.e. a server declares itself RP and tries to run off all the l334 d00ds.

I could go for that if the l334ies with a minority but I'm only one man and there are only so many 12 year old dweebs with anger issues that I can take on at a time... not to mention thousands more and being born every day!

as i said, if they are such crybabies and immature, theyll leave after being ganked a few times. this isnt WoW.

I would really like to see first and second names in this, like SWG for example, no weird characters or numbers, and an rp server could go down a treat, id give that a go.

Polls anyone (seen as i cant be arsed)

I didnt said that Wow name system was perfect. It gave a nice basis for other games. But I say again that it would be nice not having no numbers and special chars at all. It wouldn't be nice to see -=☼Darknes of Malagir☼=- as a clan name...
Also about Wow, the game is was meant to be good when it was released, it had a diferrent concept from existent MMORPGs. The mistake was made later..the game was promoted to the crowds as "the best MMO ever" ... and now there are like 60% of >13 yrs old kids playing it "just for fun" without really having fun..only a little amoun "newbie fun" accompanied with a phrase "I ganked you little piece of sh*t!!!!"...
