thinking you see someone in the shadows and wondering IF they are actually friend or foe is half the thrill. but yea you're gonna need to pay attention in big battles with friendly fire added in.

There is supposedly some form of radar for team mates, whether its helpful in a mass engagement is uncertain.

There is indeed a team radar for people in your immediate group, but in large battles that's not much of a help. It would probably be a good idea to wear uniforms, utilize formations, or simply make a single-race clan. You're free to solve this logistical problem however you want, it's just another area of the game where clans and players can implement whatever policies they find to be most efficient for organization. This feature, among many others, allows for strategically sound clans to have a bit of advantage.

the name is shown if you aim at a player for 1-2 seconds..
In the video where the alfar archer who sits in the tree aims at the people below him you see the targets name pretry fast..

but it's enough to unable the "scan the horizon/treeline" and see if names pop up..

And don't forget there is friendly fire. Watch where your swinging that thing.

An organized group will be key in Darkfall.

This is why real tactics will come into the group pvp. Clusterfucking will be done by the noob groups. In watching some good battles between the top guilds in Guild Wars, I was shocked to actually see such things as Holding the Line, Retreating, Flanking, etc. actually working and when pulled off correctly, it would turn the tide of the battle. Darkfall will have this even more so due to the Friendly Fire and no names.

But keep in mind, the opposing races are pretty visually different. The orcs and mahirim are very tall and buff, and the humans and elves thinner and shorter. Just an example, but really it shouldn't be that hard to tell except for ARACS and such.

Not to mention the thrill of knowing if you made someone mad at you they might murder you in the confusion of battle.

No player is friendly in Darkfall, they could betray you anytime.

Besides, this would be too easily exploited, just add the person to your friends list and see their names above their heads.

It's actually frightening how on the level the devs for Darkfall are, they know exactly what I want. They will effectively be destroying my life by releasing this game.

No names, no targets, friendly fire on = best idea ever.

This is true, but i think things like that are very minor and probably very easy to fix. Such as making the name only appear if both players are on each others lists.

Just remember how your friends look! If you're really bad at remembering it you and your friends should get some kind of "uniform" like everyone wears a pink helmet or something so you can see who's who. Also, uniforms can be intimidating since it shows you guys at least have a little cohersion.

But then the enemy team could easily infiltrate your team by just putting on a few matching clothes, or even looting some of the uniform from a corps to disguise their real clan.

But what about a friend radar? I'd think a friend radar would be just as important.
