How many of the features in this amazing post by Staatsschutz are still viable features http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=43318 this thread showed many of the features that were talked about from dozens of interviews etc. I noticed that a few were from 2006 and some were in a sort of "this is what we want but we are still working on it and its a tough thing" sence, meaning to me that maybe they might have abandoned it by now or something else.
How much of this post is still up to date, of course from reading and watching the vids i know a few things that are now common knowledge but i was thinking more along the lines of features like:
Ship speed and movement being affected by prevailing winds.
Npc's being able to smell you so keeping downwind of them give you a better chance of surprise.
You could jump off of a big rock and hit someone in the head with an axe causing more damage with the momentum of your fall.....
.....Any many more of the wonderful features that make me (and a few others i know) wet myself silly thinking about them.
The thread is closed now so i had no chance to thank Staatsschutz for his efforts (i have been reading that post and its sources for a while on and off now) but heres hoping that damn near everything in it can be squeezed in cause its been worth the wait so far, however i would like to know if some stuff has been scrapped or changed. Nice thread Staatsschutz, it helped me get excited about the game again.

I wouldn't trust it too much. He has a lot of stuff in there that contradicts itself, and links from posts from 2003. The game apparently was scrapped and rebuilt around 2004.

Thanks.
Damn thats a shame, so basically the up to date info we have on the solid real features of the game is more or less scattered around a bit on the forums. If i wasnt so lazy i would try and re-make that list and vamp it up. But i am lazy and instead i will continue to trawl the forums and wait for the game to come out and feel the surprise.

Try the darkfall wiki. (http://darkfall.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page) Some people are attempting to get it up and running with recent data on it (myself included)
I'm trying to go through and prevent people from referencing articles that are more than 4 years old, but it's a pain.

Ship speed and movement being affected by prevailing winds.
The source on this is from October 2006, so as far as Darkfall info goes, its not THAT old, lol. And there is this quote directly from Tasos, from earlier that year:
"The world of Darkfall will feature a dynamic weather system, that will affect things like wind direction. Sailing your ship into an opposing wind will slow it down, making it considerably less maneuverable. Would-be pillagers will have to plan their strategies in advance and luckily enough, Darkfall includes the means to forecast upcoming weather conditions." May 9, 2006 (http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?loadfeature=629&gameid=4&page=1&setview=features&bhcp=1)
Sounds pretty promising. I'd assume its still in, in some form.
Edit: What about weather effects and day/night cycles? (http://www.darkfallonline.com/faq/world.html)
...."Agon will be a very atmospheric and beautiful world complete with world physics that will surprise you. The weather effects will often be dramatic, and the day/night cycles will sometimes be accompanied with spectacular dawns and sunsets.
The exact time cycle is not set yet, but the current total night/day cycle is about four hours long. Expect realistic weather effects, such as rain, snow, wind blowing in the trees, wind blowing in the grass on the ground, thunder and lightning."
I'm curious about the rest now. I'm almost positive about the weapon-damage-while-falling thing, I could swear it was mentioned in an interview recently. I'll see if I can dig it up.

As far as i know this is still in. I believe you can see evidence of it in the video.

To greeneggsnoham, your efforts are appreciated. I will have a look through that soon, thanks.
Its nice to see that some of those examples seem to be in but again, nothing seems to be certain but i guess thats half the fun of finding out on release (or beta).
Thanks for the replies guys.

So I was told that no npc hirelings. That would have been a neat feature to have. Anyone who played Ferentus remember that?

As far as I'm concerned any features that has been listed and was not announced as being removed (like taming, pets, patrolling NPC guards in cities, Caravans as an "item"), it is still in the game.
