So your a ranger and you see someone wandering around..you cant see a name or Clan they are in..Is it going to be difficult to tell the difference in some cases, i kno you can wear other classes armor..but will you resemble the other class? Could this be a sneak attack strategy?

Skill based, no classes.

No Classes in Darkfall however they are thinking of implementing a simular feature but not at release.

You are not a Ranger. You are a character with a lot of points in the bow skill.

Anyone can wear any armour. Anyone can use almost any weapon (there is one race specific weapon per race).

You will not know by looking at anyone what sort of 'build' they are. You could see someone in full plate armour who is a mage. You could see someone in robes who's a two handed raging melee fighter.

You can't tell anything by looking at someone other than their name, what equipment they're wearing, what their health is at, and what clan they're in.

No classes.

Edit: Sorry i just read you last post.. i dont remember reading anything about race restrictions, maybe there are some items that are unique for that race, but they will be only a few

I think i dont understand your post.. but well, here its an example of a situation that maybe its useful..

Im dressed like a noob (cheap sword, with just a robe), you see me and think "good! someone to own", come, and then i take out my real sword/wand, and kill you :)

There are no classes, you can dress or use whatever you want (of course, if you are a full mage, a heavy armor and a sword wont be very useful.. but you can use them if you want)

They didn't say anything about stats/race requirements

i thought they said somewhere that the different races could wear race specific armor(maybe i was mistaken) My question is..Can you loot that race specific armor, put it on, and walk amongst another races people and blend in just before you sneak someone in an alley.

I believe that any armour can be worn by any race. I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

The reason they talk about race specific is that they have to make 12 different "versions" of the armour so that it fits each race. A helmet will look a little different when worn by the furry race than it would when worn by a dwarf.

ok thats probably what i heard..Darkfall is all about what you see is what you get..so will you wear the armor as you receive or will it change when u pick it up

Ahh ok!.. i suposse that yes, but if you are a dwarf (:)) wearing an ork armor, they probably will discover you.. or at least suspect jaja

I remember reading long time ago about the claws of mihirim, which are race specefic.. but only that

I would hate that, lol.
But you should be able to modify an Armor so you can wear it, if it's not wearable for your race - say Dwarve..

yes they will have race specific, in that only that race can create that item, or buy that mount, but anybody can use them, you just need to kill the person that has it, and take them.

yeah basically the armor changes it's appearance based on which race equips it.

We have screenshots of this in effect.

Look for the screenshots of the dragon armor. The human has a closed boot and the "claw detail" on the armor is over both shoulders where when mahirim where it the boot is open and just a metal cover over the foot area, and the claw is more rotated around and over just one shoulder.

There are no racial limits on gear.

While only an alfar can make a ishlard (alfar racial poleaxe) anyone that rips it from a dead alfar can use / wield it.

As far as idenitfying what skills someone has I wouldnt count on it. And I really hope the devs didnt put anything like it in the game. I really like the fact I can walk around in a robe and then when attacked pull out my halbred and slice and dice.
Use to do it in UO all the time. :) wear a wizzy hate and robe over my platemail with a mage book, and when someone came around bam out came the mace and shield and during the fight I would swap the wizzy hat for my helmet.

Each race has a specific single weapon that can only be crafted by members of that race:
- Alfar have Ilshard, which is a Halberd.
- Dwarfs have Ildhammer, which is obviously a Hammer.
- Humans have Lightbringer, which is a Sword.
- Mahirims have Ghost Claws, which are... Claws.
- Mirdain have Sunbow.
- Orks have Aldaruk, which is an Axe.
