Do you think the time will be wasted with a collectors edition or pre-order specials? Since the gear can be lost 10 seconds after you get it? What kind of special deal do you think Darkfall can do if they did offer a collectors edition?

Anyone can have a mount in Darkfall, and you don't need to fulfill a special set of conditions, reach a certain level, save gold for months, win a contest, or preorder the game to own one.

We can probably safely assume that there will be no rhinos or mammoths for pre-orders

yea thats what i think 2..but is there something you think they might do to encourage a collectors edition? Maybe like a special in item creating? like color on armor or something? Even tho its lootable people may want to collect colored armor or weapons..

i would get the CE just for that reason..but most ppl are turned on by "In-Game Gear" so they have an "advantage"over the other players.

I Really understand companys who wanna milk their customers but really how fair is it to let some ppl in "early" or give some ppl more stuff ingame because they payed more for the product. Bad concept from the start imo.

I'd enjoy seeing something implemented that couldn't be taken for Pre-order bonuses or collectors editions, IE Jewelry, Trophys, something like a Weap Chant to pour over a sword (Glowy Effect ), Flags to wear like Samurai or to put on Veh/Boats Etc..

I dont think they'll give free weapons with a special edition game, maybe some posters or lore books but nothing of much in-game value.

since there are no 'levels' there won't be the same type of congestion in the nub starter areas, so it is unlikely that a 'head-start' program will help eleviate the congestion, so that's one less reason

if there's going to be a preorder bonus item then it should just be fluff. pets like from WoW were a good idea. in darkfall I'd say something like a decoration for your house would work just fine. would be exclusive and make people feel special without being unfair to those who don't preorder. Conan's exp ring and mount nonsense was just plain cheap. just give us something pointless but neat that we can say "hey look what I've got!" about if we're going to get anything at all.

I agree with this.
Earn items not buy them.offering items that would give a player significant advantage over another would be unwise.May as well be selling gold off the official Darkfall site and have it hand delivered by GM's in game.Now something small for a Collectors edition. sure. Why not... You get a pretty mount or Glowy item type thing that will decay or be looted.. but no real advantage. In my opinion if you want them to give you some kind of huge in game advantage due to real life money you are truly poor.

I agree that maybe a ingame item for your house or town maybe. That you would not get otherwise. As for the winning items out of game, I myself think there are certain times this applies such as a winner to a post contest or something along that line.

if darkfall is download-only then maybe there won't be preorders but if it's sold in stores there are going to be preorders. nothing aventurine can do about that.

Hell, in Oblivion I just left my crap in the middle of the streets for the NPCs to kick around.

Just take a look at AoC for proof. You got a ring, a cape, a mammoth / rhino, and a 3 day head start.

I don't think they are going to (or should) do a preorder because they keep saying how they want us to play it before we play it. As to a CE, I am all with you as long as it doesn't include in-game shit. It would totally go against everything they keep saying the want the game to be.

If there's a special associated item with pre-orders or w/e CE thing that comes along... maybe some randomized or cooler looking starter gear would be nice. You know, just a different skin to your noobie gears (gears you are unlikely to ever use).

Anything beyond that would give an item edge, and that is not what Darkfall is about.

There will still be a "nub starter area" because all your skills will be at 0.. so you have to build them up on weak mobs. There are no 'levels' but you will have 'skill levels' kinda like runescape
