we should have more of these. fucking tucker carlson. love that guy.
also, jesse ventura? badass. then they have a concert at the end. this is how all self-respecting conventions should be. also, wave the flag less. i hate patriotic people nowadays. patriotism just BREEDS tyranny, and that's ALL i saw at the Texas state convention for the republicans.

Looks like it'll be a great event. Glad about that.
I saw Jesse Ventura recently doing an interview and I've come to the conclusion that he's kind of an idiot. I mean, most of his beliefs are in line with what I think, but he's just not very intelligible about debating things. Maybe it was just a shitty interview, it was this one here:
PT1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SoxTEn833I
PT2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqXl44Kp8vo
The guy interviewing him was a pencil dick anyhow, but he had a lot of opportunities to make really strong points and wound up getting side-tracked... like with the international law bullshit. He goes off on the tangent of "yeah, but who's gonna enforce it?" instead of pointing out that as citizens of the US we're not subject to some idiotic international law. Just an example... the whole interview was kind of that way.
Other times he's spoken I've seen him make some really good and intelligent points though, so perhaps this one was just edited apart.

wtf? tucker carlson is badass. do you not remember the canadian dogsledding incident? he's brilliant.
i'm really sad he stopped wearing the bowtie, though.

nope. i hate flag waving retards nowadays. shit is pointless. i don't think we should even HAVE a flag. it's overplayed and people get hung up on it.
the olympics pushed me to this. its too easy to root for your country as if your "country" does anything. it's the people that do everything. and there's a huge difference.

Jesse Ventura is just a conspiracy theorist with name recognition.
And patriotism, flags, pride, all horrible things. I can't believe people have the gall to be proud of their country. Anyway, you can, in fact, wave flags and not be a victim of blind patriotism.

yea. it's like when i smoke crack. i can do it, and not be addicted to it. must be a good thing, right?
fucking pointless to be patriotic. patriots used to be the people that overthrew their government, anyway. nowadays that's changed.

You can't be proud that your country produces strong athletes? It may be the athlete's personal achievement but they are only able to work towards that achievement if they live in a country that gives them the opportunity.

wtf are you talking about? why can't i be proud of the athlete without being proud of my country?
there's a huge fucking difference. any country can produce great athletes. check out nazi germany. great fucking athletes. does that mean they were a good political party?
sure, being proud in itself is not the bad thing. but then people can use that against you. have you ever been to a party state convention? it's absolutely brutal, all the flag waving. makes you want to cry and be happy you live in america. then the speaker gets up and rants on how great america is for 5-10 minutes, then sticks 2-3 minutes of WHATEVER THE FUCK HE WANTS because you are too busy crying about how great your country is.
it's abused. it's a distraction. it should be left out. i'll go so far as to say we don't need a flag (it's an overplayed meme anyway), we shouldn't have a PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, and we shouldn't have a national anthem.
either way, i hope this rally sticks true to the libertarian message. there are some on the list there that i'm not really thrilled about.
like I said before though, Ventura and Carlson are good. Rockwell will be great to hear. he should be right before the concert, imo. good speaker, that guy... if not a little too meak.

Oh come on Stal, how unlibertarian of you (don't shoot *ducks*)
A lot of people get hung up on guns and end up murdering people, but that doesn't mean they aren't a tool with an immense amount of uses. While I think flags are retardedly associated with ideas as if those ideas are eternally bound to this piece of cloth, I also recognize that a flag does a lot to represent a country, and has a lot of technical uses as well as allowing people to feel proud of the place they live, for the right reasons. Ain't nothing wrong with that my friend.

I will be attending the Rally in Minneapolis. There is a concert the night before, and an after-party on the 2nd from 9:30-4:00 in the morning. I'm sure I'll be beat, but I'm happy to be a part of it.
I should pick up a copy of Revolution: A Manifesto while I'm in town, Paul will give a book signing on Monday.
