I love milk, and that milk typically has the quality of skim milk.

I like skim milk because it is more drinkable than a heavier milk, such as whole or 2%.

What is your milk of choice and why?

Whole milk, anything else doesn't compare. Also, Dutch + Swedish dairy for the win. Dairy in the US has a lot of variation but generally the central mid-west states have the best. Also, hormones.

1% here. I drink about two litres of milk an hour, so I have grown very attached to my 1%. 2% and skim both make me sick. I couldn't change if I wanted to.

Also, if there was a bacon drink, it would be an instant hit everywhere except the middle east (and parts of Africa, Indonesia and the Indian sub-continent).

Yeah, full is definitely best.

From my personal experience milk rankings are:

Netherlands
Scandinavia
France

Anyway, buttermilk isn't milk gone bad, its not spoilt, rather fermented, like beer. Its milk that's had a bacteria introduced to it, like yoghurt. Maybe buttermilk isn't the same as what we call Karne milk in Holland (though I'm certain its similar).

In Sweden there's this stuff called Filmjölk which is kind of a cross between milk and yoghurt. Its pretty good stuff too, nice and thick.

The man speaks the truth, GD. When I moved to the Netherlands from the US I was amazed by the difference in the quality of the milk. Its all organic over here, the government doesn't allow dairy producers to use any additives or hormones. As a result the milk tastes positively good rather than just meh. That said, mid-west milk is pretty good.

I believe people who try to gain weight in efforts to become extremely fat and immobile prefer heavy creme. You can read all about it at Fantasy Feeder (http://fantasyfeeder.com/cms/index.php). They probably know alot about milk.

Whole milk. That skim shit is basically just water w/ a couple teaspoons of milk added for coloring... How anyone could drink it is beyond me.

I can stand 2% in cereal, and if I really have to drink it I suppose I could, but anything less then that and its not even milk anymore. (Sorry 1%, yer no better than skim in my book.)

To drink plain milk though I have to be eating something. Its great to wash food down with. Otherwise I have to add chocolate hehe. I never just drink a glass of plain milk though, its gross after like the third swallow if you don't have food, or chocolate to go with it lol.

2%, it gets the job done. I drink 2-3 liters a day usually.

I often drink half&half at night too, and there's no better way to make waffles than with full on cream.

Any of you chumps up on that whole thing about homogonized stuff tearing up the body? "Organic" milk scares me, I like things that are pasturized...but milk without rBST in it is nice.

Actually, milk comes from most female mammals to help their offspring develop strong bones and such. Just because you are no longer an infant doesn't mean you can no longer receive the benefits. Also, you probably drank breast milk when you were suckin on your mama's teets.

Oh, and to the OP.... 2% Whole milk is a little too thick for my taste but 1% and Skim are nothing more than cloudy water.

Maybe I should try it. I'm obsessivley paranoid about milk and whether its good or not.

If there is even a little bit of dried milk on the lid which causes any odor whatsoever, the whole gallon gets thrown away.

Even if i have to put my nose right up to it to smell it. LOL. (Which beggs the question, if you know this, why do you stick your nose right up to the lid to smell it?)

I know the gallon is probably good, but once I've smelled sour milk, even just slightly I can't help it tasting like its bad, even when its not.

The exception is when I have a second gallon to open, that being a new container I know its not connected so to speak LOL.

I'm weird.
