Holy crap, I'm finally back guys! I know you all missed me, and I missed all of you. Actually, that's a lie. I didn't really miss you guys all too much. I wasn't even planning on actually coming back at all, except stalwart was a fucking douchbag and banned me from his forums and I was getting bored. Don't worry Brannoc, I still love you even after the 8 month ban! Anyway, on to a real topic so this thread will continue to exist after a mod sees it! The rest of this thread is a tl;dr rant full of me whining, so skip it if you want.

My friends and I recently started a band(like really recently, as in last week), and god fucking damnit it sucks. I don't really know what to say. Right now we are just another cover band, and once we get some practice in and stop sounding like we bang our faces into the wall for a couple hours before we play we might try and get some bar/club gigs. They made me do vocals because they were all too afraid to sing infront of people. I did it on the condition I can veto any song choice we make. Honestly though I'm having nothing but problems with these guys.

Our guitar player thinks he is Eddie Van Halen reborn and is bitching because I wont do Jump. I told him it's too close to synth-pop and I not going near synth-pop. He isn't even that great, but if you listen to him he can go on for hours about how awsome he is with a guitar. Our drummer just started learning the drums about 2 years ago, so he isn't very good either. He is a fast learner though and better than our guitarist, which is surprising. Our bassist is good, I'll give him that, but he complains about every single fucking song we play. He's more of a bitch than the guitarist.

I'll admit that even I'm not a great singer. I just kinda started singing once we started the band, so I don't have years of voice training experience. I can't do super high pitchs and stuff. The only reason I'm even doing it is because they were bugging me for about 2 weeks before I agreed. Also I'm thinking it's a good way to meet chicks since I've been without a girlfriend for too long now. Anyway, I figured I might as well post a list of the songs we are practicing at the moment. I convinced the guys nobody wants to hear a another cover band that just plays the same songs as everyone else, so I got them to pick some more original songs, even if they are from the regular bands. As singer I got to pick 3 songs while they all got to pick 2. I picked Zeppelin, Doors, and Talking Heads.

Anyone else got a band with as many problems as us?

Just started up a new band myself a back in June. Don't have the same problem as you guys though, we are meshing nicely. But thats probably because we have all been doing this for about a decade or more now. Currently we have 8 originals 2 more in the works and have worked up 3 covers to stretch out the play time. Our covers include The Cars "Just What I needed" back to back with Slayers' "Seasons in the Abyss". They actually roll rather well into each other.
