Their Homestead Breakfast is the best! Waffle House = Bad. If you want the waffle/pancake type breakfast, go to Ihops instead of WH.

Waffle House is, in many places, the pinnacle of roadside eating the way it was supposed to be and used to be back in the 50s. Great food, a very talented and well paid cook working furiously over a grill where you can see him, and great prices. Their reputation has slipped recently both because prudes are afraid to eat with blue collar workers, and because blue collar workers have increasingly become drug-addled unscrupulous flashers... and, as fallout from that, some Waffle Houses I've seen have been horrendous with poor management.

So the franchise as a whole, I think is good... enough that if I feel like eating breakfast food I wouldn't hesitate to stop by one randomly. On the other hand, I'm wary that (unlike 10 years ago when they were all pretty much fantastic) many of their branches are of quite poor quality.

I'm afraid without some major changes their franchise will be going the way of Denny's (formerly Sambo's, name changed due to it being "racist"... all down hill since).

I hate IHOP. Another example of a franchise that was great 10 years ago. They don't cook their fucking food. I've been to dozens of locations all over the country and they never cook the fucking food until it's done. They also started mixing pancake batter into their eggs as "filler" last year... awful.

I can't stand eating fast food much, and IHOP went from good food to fast food pretty goddamned quick.

Cracker Barrel is probably the best replacement for what IHOP used to be, but they aren't as numerous or widespread.

In European Royalty belgian and scandinavian waffles are quite popular and these people have been born with a silver spoon to.

Probably just real brats whos parents have taught them not to eat that of "common folks" or even mix with anyone earning less than 100 000 USD a year would be so dismissive of waffles!

hmmm... never really had problems at my local ihop. Granted, it's been 6 months or more since I've eaten there.

And I like cracker barrel too, just there aren't any locally for me. They have lots of them in N/S carolina though.
