ok I was browsing around for a game to get int owhile I sit here patiently for this one, and happened to stumble across this game... http://www.play-earthrise.com/index.php brand new game, small indie company and supposed beta release this fall and game release 2009. They already have some very good companies helping out with their game. "Masthead Studios just announced the hiring of SpeedTree to do their ingame foliage. SpeedTree did the foliage for GTA IV." and also Scaleform to do their UI. Both companies are great at what they do. NO safe zones nothing, I dont know but DF devs better hurry cause I have a feeling other companies are catching on :ohno:...full loot (heard something about being able to buy insurance though), no safe zones...hmm sounds like they are trying to make something similar, 'cept based in a sci-fi/cyberpunk universe

Earthrise appears to be going with what WAR claimed it was going to do early in its development: a sort of hybrid of the PvP and PvE playstyles, in which PvP is unavoidable and has some consequences but is not the heart of the game. It looks like it could be objectively good, but it doesn't look like it's got enough similarity to Darkfall to be worth playing to a forumfaller.

Now compare the above to Darkfall Online's features and you'll probably Earthrise has most of Darkfall's features but watered down.

'100 skills' - Instantly brings along the question of pre-set overpowered builds.
Compared to Darkfalls 700~ Skills + Spells

The combat is 'fast paced' however I get the feeling most of the fighting will be down to, who has the more efficent weapon and how much damage can your shield/hull take.

By the sounds of this 'order' and 'revolutionary underground' the game will be based around factional warfare quite alot so it depends if you want to belong to a faction or be your own independant unit.

Overall this game does look like a serious competitor however I still think if Darkfall comes through on its promises Darkfall will end up being the 'better' game.

If they do create a DFO style MMO and Succeed, there going to be the Walmart of MMO and Dominate lol I just want a damn MMO to play...
