Server: America vs Europe

On which server will you be playing on?
As far as we know, the European server will launch a bit earlier (my guess is two month at max, one weak at least) but the question is where you will be playing after both servers are available.

I assume from "Where do you live" poll that America and Europe are represented by an almost equal amount of players here at Darkfall (in the poll the Americans have ~20% more but when the poll got posted it was midnight at Europe and now it's 2:00 PM here) so it'll be kind of intresting to see how the servers will be populated.

Leaning towards america. If the game comes out and I can play on Europe and with the same game create an account on American I might do that. My fear is that with the servers coming up at different times one server might be a lot larger than the other population wise

anyone who has ever played an MMO with a 600+ ping knows that they will be playing on the closest server they can find to where they live. Anyone who hasn't, I'll bet you 90%+ of them will switch as soon as a native server is opened.

edit: and yeah, it's 11am east coast US. By nighttime we'll have a more balanced poll.

Our leaders are American. I think we're playing European until the USA server comes out, then switching. That's what I'm doing either way. I can't play an FPS style game with 300+ ping.

The servers will be separate game worlds, the same as every other MMO... you can't play in both unless you're willing to pay for two accounts.

I'd rather play on a U.S. server but if the game is actually playable on a Euro server it doesn't really matter to me. DF won't have any General channels or anything retarded like that so I won't have to put up with dumbasses spamming in foreign languages. EVE's hosted in England and it works. I do however think this game will be pretty ping dependent so I'd like a localized server.

Agreed...i use to play CS:CZ for an american Clan called Div.C3! They were ranked one in USA for a long while back 3 or 4 years ago. Even thought i was playing from England i only suffered a 100 ping disadvantage. However computers wernt as powerfull as they are now, so because i had spent a shit load of money building my computer, it was the dogs bollox and so the ping difference didnt really matter as my computer was turning 1 and a half times the fps of any other.

However i believe now that computers are as advanced as they are its more likely that you will come across another person with a faster computer, after all, who ever can get the images on their screen faster will have an advantage. And for this reason i will most definatly be playing on the Euro servers.

However i will be building a new computer this year.

Faster Computer = Higher FPS = Less Lag on screen = Faster Reaction times = Higher accuracy of game play = I WIN!

Depends on where exactly you live. Your latency gets better the nearer you're to the server. If you live in the UK, it should be a pretty close one, but as for the Rest of Europe, your connection should be alot better if you play at the European-server.

No, that should still be minimal. Problems will be if you're connecting to the US-Servers from Greece or to the EU servers from the US. Anything else should still be fine and differ only slightly. Even if you're playing on the Eu-servers from the US it'll probably still be "acceptable".

You even have an advantage as you're compleatly free to choose. If you're looking for a Clan you don't have to choose them by Region.

2) Because Americans tend to be alot more immiture in general - Sorry guys. :P

One bad thing though, is the language barrier on EU servers. However, every EU server I've played in a P2P game - Everyone speaks english. This is probably because all the Russians and whatnot who can't speak English can't P2P.
