I don't want to sadden you guys but Aventurine will most likely say:
"Too complex. Makes the game laggy." like they did with hit-zones.

Does this mean we that we can hit the opponets foot with a hammer it'll do the same amount of damage as if I smashed their face with a hammer?(same amount of force and everything)

To answer you question, yes.

Though I think you get bonuses from behind or something.

It has been known for years that the game will not have hitboxes as they have a very negative impact on latency.

Yes, that's the case. They actually had hitboxes that were separate (head, torso, legs, that sort of thing) years ago and they didn't work as intended. The game lagged so much with them that you would think you hit someone in the head but you would have hit them in the foot on the server's end, making them effectively pointless (not even getting into the damage such lag would make for the rest of the game). So they took them out.

You do get extra damage from behind, however, using a vector calculation that they made which cannot be used to check for head vs. leg hits, etc. (I only say that because someone almost always asks).

You'll have to wait for technology to improve a bit before MMORPGs can have hit detection like that. Keep in mind that there are no FPS MMORPGs in existence right now at all. There are a handful of dedicated MMOFPSs, such as WW2OL and Planetside, and I think those two have hitboxes (I know at least WW2OL has hitboxes although they also have a helluva lot more than that, their hit detection system is ridiculous), but there are no FPS MMORPGs that are actually released yet. (Darkfall is not the only one in development, however, but all the others don't have hitboxes either).

For some further clarification in case someone really doesn't get it: in Darkfall you have to actually hit your opponent in order to do damage to them. There is no auto-target. However, where you hit them on their body does not affect the amount damage that you do, only whether or not you hit them from behind does.
