Basically, I read somewhere that you can take cities over, player cities I mean, does this mean you just temporarily or is there some way of permanently taking a city, because the way I see it, guild fighting would be SO much fun if you could fight for each other's cities. But maybe that's just a crazy dream I had . If someone could clarify this for me I'd greatly appreciate it.

Permanently of course, somewhat like Shadowbane.

Tip: use the staff Q&A thread for questions like this.

Yes, you can build your own cities, and take other guild's cities...permanently.

Race capital cities may be a different story, though.

you can take over, or make them swear fealty to you or destroy them outright (takes alot of time to do that one)

I simply meant that, hypothetically, should no retaliation be made and should noone ever try and take it from you, could you keep it indefinitely?

What about NPC-Cities (from other races)? Can you take them over as well? Never read about something about it (though I really, really doubt you can).

One thing you need to keep in mind is, when you declare a siege on a city, your own city becomes attackable to ANYONE :)

SOME NPC cities will be open for attack so you can claim it for your own.....however not racial Capitol cities.

Well you could go there, kill everyone inside and claim it as yours I guess.
But I doubt there is a system for taking over Racial Capitals

NPC cities have static ownership (R.I.P. large scale RvR), but yes, players can fight and hold a variety of city and hamlet sites. There are almost 100 of them in the game.

Well technically if you are weaker than another guild it isnt permament :)

Yes city siege will be fun and no there will not be any artificial thing that will limit how long you can own a city.
