I haven't heard anything about this, and I assume it is the case, but will you be able to take lethal damage from a great enough fall?

If this is how falling will in fact be implemented, how would you feel about the additional implementation of force projectiles (projectile spells that do no damage, but push back players it hits instead)? I know they said there's collision detection and the ability to push people yourself, so it doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to include.

I could imagine people standing on top of a high cliff waiting to knock people off the side who try to walk past, but there would likely be an additional spell that can be activated to soften falls, or some other form of balancing things in that situation.

From what I've heard there will be spells which push them back and do damage but the push back probably won't be anything great. Falling damage, I hope it's implemented.

Aye, the falling damage goes without saying really and the pushing spell would be quite an obvious thing to include i would have thought ;)

They will put it in the game, don't worry.

Falling will result in injury and you have spells/abilites which can move people (probaly to stop people being idiots and blocking doors).

so you can shove hapless passers by to their dooms off tall cliffs to your heats content.

Now you just have to figure out how to get the loot...

haha, maybe this will even be used by the "faller" if he is at a significant disadvantage against an opposing war and is carrying goods/good equipment. He just jumps over a cliff so his enemies can't get the loot.

Both are in, but what I would really like to see if damage from falling objects. It's pretty obvious so I'm sure it's in. I just like the idea of pushing giant boulders on unsuspecting heads.

Well thats when you push off so many people a pile of bodies forms and then you jump onto it to cushion your fall. Momentum is in the game, I remember reading that if you jump off a rock and in mid leap while you are going down you swing your hammer and bash someone in the head it effects damage done.

Lets Be honest here....WoW Had it! DFO will most definately have it. They have spells that cause push back, you are able to block people and crash in to them using your mount, surely collisions will cause damage on more than 1 account.

You can rest assured it will be in the game. As for....

But if I jump of a building or mounten and hit someone will they take damage?

Im not sure the game engine will support this type of collision detection.

It should have falling damage.

If I ever start a clan I will strive to build a wizard's tower on top of a mountain. If we are ever attacked we will knock the attackers off of said mountain with highly explosive spells. Also, physics affecting spells, if they are still in.

To add more detail: we will open with multiple gravity cancelling , or better yet, anti-gravity spells, to reduce mobility and traction. Then we open fire with the AoE spells to blast them off the side of the mountain. Possibly with the assistance of a persistent wind effecting spell. Obviously, this tactic would be ineffective against foes who attack in waves, our mana reserves would not hold out.

There are spells that can be used to blast yourself up, as stated by the devs multiple times before now. It's most likely safe to assume there is are explotion force spells that can push everyone around.

Fall damage is such a basic consept in mmo's I wouldn't worry about it going missing...
Hell even WoW has lethal falls.

Hell yea this is strategy irl many defensive positions on higher ground were used in just such a manner, to let the cliff kill your enemies with little effort from you (maybe a rolling log or boulder) making similar in game bases valuable for similar reasons

WRONG! The answer would obviously be gliders.

What I meant was using the environment, using collision to push a boulder or something. But since the devs did say somewhere that you can't have any influence on the environment I guess this wouldn't be in after all.

I hope it is a skill, or some form of magic involved to be able to fall from higher places without taking too much damage.
