looks pretty good, a lot like an MMO freelancer, for those of you who remember that game :p

graphics are fine, gameplay apparently can be enabled in different ways...joystick style, or keyboard/mouse, like good ol' freelancer. its already in beta, might check it out before DF, since DF is taking a while...might as well occupy myself with another seemingly good game.

If you're a 'space ship' the entire time, that's not cool. I'm sure the EVE fans will dig it though. Looks to me like a dumbed down version of EVE.

more like better version of EvE...EvE was a cheap MMO version of freelancer that required less skill. and being a 'space ship the entire time' can be entertaining, as freelancer and other games have shown. Being stuck on the ground all the time in a smaller world than the universe--"thats not cool" either.

D00d now I don't care about beta, I just want this game to come out soon so I have something to do 'til Spore then have that to play 'til DF.

Srsly tho, game looks badass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glAt2U8QMco&feature=related

(Don't blame me for the shitty music, I didn't make the damn vid)

Being a character, having the possibility to fly/fight/build in space as well as on the ground, land on space stations and planets - that's how it should be. That we're still stuck in "ship-only"-mode is terrible. "Twitchy"/manual control dogfights or not.

How you think that video is a big step forward compared to how the EVE gameplay felt, is beyond me. That combat also looks slow and boring to me; and how many could participate in the bigger fights?

Dude, it's an MMOFPS using spacecraft. I give half a shit about the details. If EVE had actual twitch-based combat, I'd be playing it now.

I remember getting a email from them about getting into beta since I applied a while ago. Just kinda ignored it.

Judging from the video, I'd have more fun playing Space Invaders! and this is claiming to be an FPS in space, at least it should have pace, so that -actual- skill can be involved. Any retard could swing a joystick to targets snailing away like that. It's almost like you'd want EVE's automatic systems back - so that you could go do something else entirely. MMOFPS doesn't really give the impression of depth as a MMORPG title does - less complexity is bad, and that a game gives the player the opportunity to apply his/her brain to succeed in the various aspects of gameplay also is a matter of skills, as if skills using a joystick and triggering the right 'special attacks' is the only form there is. I've just looked at the game info for a matter of minutes, but I don't feel compelled to invest more time on this game - you guys feel free, as I'm mainly stating my own opinion.

Looking at some of the screenshots: Space sure is a colorful place!

1. It's an MMOFPS. 2. It has PvP.

Once again, anything more than that is too much detail for me. I just want a character/ship I can develop/customize and use to kill/kerblam other people. This game allows me to do so. If there is a bit of a grind to start I don't care.

i agree with what you said in teh 1st part, but this at least is better than EvE...they said it was Freelancer style combat, and that happened to be quite fast paced and entertaining. the videos are bleh...even one of the darkfall videos was a bit messed up, with some of the players moving a bit too...edgy...and slowly to be realistic. Its best to try a free trial of a game, and not judge it by screenshots and gameplay vids.

freelancer, though based more on 'dogfights' between groups of fighters, worked quite well with larger frigates, gunboats, etc. The only problem were battleships and cruisers; wasnt fair that one person could have all that firepower with one shot.

Will it have a empire building thingy like EvE? So certain clans can control certain areas of space? Don't quite get the point behind this game, looks good though.

I saw PvE servers on the forums, determined that PvP was therefore not a central component of the game (why would you be willing to remove a core game mechanic?) and never looked back.

Like I said before, I'll take EVE's auto-target gameplay with a PvP focus over a game with FPS gameplay without a PvP focus.
