"We did see some of our players leave, [but] about 40% of those players have returned to World of Warcraft." (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/53962)

We all have been through that stage where after experiencing anything for the first time whether it be books, movies, food or games (possibly women) we want something a little different and more sophisticated. I think overall this says a lot for the future growth of Darkfall.

AoC had potential, but it didnt' feel complete enough. Maybe if it's still around in 4 years it will be better than WoW

It doesn't surprise me either, but it is however, a statement of darkfall's potential market.

The point is that these wow players that have returned are looking for something better and brighter than wow, didn't find it with aoc, and went back to wow.

And didn't AoC originally run on a pvp platform?

In four years WoW will have four more expansions and people still won't leave.

lol, the funny thing is this is true. EQ1 still has a pretty sizeable playerbase and they've been popping an expansion out every 10 months or so. EQ2 has 4 expansions and a ton of mini expansion adventure packs too. WoW is just slow on the expansions.

They want all the carebears to obtain their purples before the next expansion, duh!

Notice they didn't give any source and they likely included people who sold their accounts and possibly also people who also kept their AoC account active (as it is semi-casual friendly.) AoC has a really hard time keeping hardcore players though, which are sort of needed for a good community.....too bad they're wasting they're time playing WoW.

Just like I said. The next decent MMO doesn't have to be a WoW killer. It just has to be decent enough to grab about 4th of their base.(Which is still a fuckton)

But alas, developers and major publishing houses seem to be fucking retarded lately.

"You know what people really love? Paying for a beta! Ohh what a great idea!"

In four years you have wow 2.

From the article posted:

"As for the unannounced MMO Blizzard has in development, he noted that the studio was still staffing up for the project, but was "not able to share any additional information" due to competitive reasons."

I've the feeling that up to 1 year, with the upcoming wow movie, Blizzard will announc wow2; and for months ther will be wow everywere: tv, news, radio, newspapers...omg

So the fast Darkfall comes out, the best is for everyone
