Does Apple II count? They ported everything awesome back then anyway, I'm just gonna roll those in.

Legacy of the Ancients
In Search of the Most Amazing Thing
A Mind Forever Voyaging
Archon
Empire Deluxe
Autoduel! (still possibly the funnest video game ever. If they remade that game right (i.e. not like Auto Assault, which was terrible), omfg)

I've been trying to play BloodNet but it's obviously before my time so I'm having a hard time.

Movie Creator on the C64... It wasn't technically a game, but it was countless hours of sandbox recording tools.

I had a Commodore back in the day but I couldn't even tell you what I played on it. We had some games though. LOL.

TES:Arena.
Wolfenstein 3D.
Heretic. (the original non-ZDaemon port owns; even makes the monster infighting of Doom 1/2 seem tame)
Daggerfall.
Duke Nukem 1/2.

Was the original C&C actually in DOS...?

I was only like 6 when I played it, so I didn't really know about these things.

That was a good one.

Also;

The Last Ninja (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Ninja)

Come to think of it; have there been any "puzzle"-type games for the PC on the same level (and possibly also style) as Zak McKracken or Maniac Mansion?

Monkey Islands 1 & 2, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle (Maniac Mansion 2) are some. Newer LucasArts adventure games, like Grim Fandango, are pretty good too, although they had much simpler UI than those older classics.

I didn't know that Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle were available for PC. I had them for my Amiga; back in the day. I never heard about Grim Fandango before, so that's a first. But aren't there any more recent games, I was wondering?

It's kind of a genre that (almost) died out. At least for the more mainstream publishers/developers.

Can't think of any recent examples... maybe The Longest Journey. That's supposed to be good, although I found it bit boring.

fake edit: just checked wikipedia and TLJ is from 1999 :S

Maybe I have been living last years in barrel concerning these games... dunno.
