Seriously, these necro'd threads are annoying. If you want to comment on an ancient thread, make a new post and link to it. There is no reason to bring it back from the dead.

Id rather have some body necro an old thread then start a new one on the same subject... but thats just me.

if all the old threads get locked the use search before you post trolls wont have an argument anymore.

the problem isnt with posting in an old thread. ITs necroing a thread for the purpose of necroing for the lols that is bad. 3 day ban imo.

Locked threads can still be searched for and still be read.

New post vs. necro post, it still looks like something new, then you look at it and realize someone thought they were funny...

Hummmm, interesting argument... but old threads that come back will not contain info we know now, and can be annoying, reviving a 10 pages thread, oh, at what number of pages was it when I last posted in it ?

A. The old thread can get new info in them just as easy as new threads.

B. New threads about the same old subject are 100X more annoying that old threads that originally brought them up.

I think people need to stop being lazy and start using search for threads that are on the subject they want to talk about... may be they would not even have to ask the question.

I am not trying to argue or flame here but I disagree about old threads not having up to date info... Its not hard to make a post in an old thread about ships that asks a question about the newest info we just got. 1 long thread is way less annoying than 50 short threads talking about the same topic... IMHO of course.

A. THe OP will still be old info.

B. Your opinion.

That way General Discussion would have about five massive threads.

Necroing old threads is way better than starting a new thread. Starting a new thread is just being lazy.

as it should

for A I think your right but that is when you should not be lazy and read the actual thread.

as for B. yeah I agree it is opinion.

It'd get kind of dull. Repeated threads are the thing what GD is build around!

Would GD be the same without them?

For A: I rarely feel like it will ever be worthwile to go trough a 6 page thread about speculations about a game.

I don't understand why it is so bad to post in an old thread even though you don't add anything to the thread, people post unrelevant posts in new threads also, why is that so much better?

Also, idiotic that you can be banned for writing in an old thread, it isn't fucking locked.

sure, it's a little cleaner to create a whole new thread, but i don't see why it's such a big deal. at least not a big enough deal to create a thread about. :(

And this thread should be necro'd at least once a month... ;)

I find it funny it got moved here, I figure that will generate plenty of necro threads, wtg mods. :ninja:
