Well, this game is coming out for the PS3, and it just might be the thing that makes me buy one. You can design pretty much everything, including your character, levels, and even boss fights. It is incredibly well done, and I have to say this looks like the most appealing game that is going to come out this year.

You can even design levels together with other people (Everything is Co-op). You can also take pictures with the eye-toy of let's say yourself, and put it as a wallpaper for an object in-game.

As I said before, this might be the game that makes me buy a PS3.

Yeah, after months of me trying to convince myself that the PS3 was a waste of money, this is too good to pass up.

I've been interested in that game since I saw a preview of it some months ago. I'm just not up for spending $300+ on a console yet. When I do eventually buy one, I think I may have to get a PS3.

It looks VERY good. And that you can make your own levels makes it even better.

Hopefully this is a kind of game you can play like trackmania (jump in, play a few laps, jump out). And not have to spend hours and hours in at a time.

You don't have to worry if your system can play it. Don't need to download and install any drivers, or direct x. It's instant gratification in a low attention span world. Its all the rage! Hell, you don't even need a PC to check your email, or surf the web anymore, we have cellphones and consoles oh yeah. PC is a dinosaur, just like Surly!

Quite true to be honest. The only thing that keeps me away from buying a console is the fact that with a computer you can use Mouse + Keyboard. FPS & RTS on Console = Fail IMO.

If you replace "a game" with "a MMO", then I would agree.

While I think the state of MMO's in general is sliding towards "Shit", I think a lot of other games have been released in an extremely polished manner.

Best example(IMO) is the Orange Box. While Valve is probably a cut above most, I think it shows how PC developers can still release something that is well worth the price tag.


Unfortunately, a lot of larger companies are looking at games as more of a cash cow, rather than a work of art. And since they are treating it like any other investment, a lot of the "big budget" games, are pure shit.

Luckily, we live in a (kinda) market economy. So we should go through a process of big fat-cat developers dying out, and smaller more dedicated teams eating up their market share.


Also, there are a lot of really innovative things in the works:

DFO (sandbox MMO)
Spore (Sandbox single player)
Starcraft 2 (promises to be an amazing RTS)
Diablo 3 (Will probably be everything Hellgate wasn't)
Left 4 Dead (Will be a revolutionary co-op FPS)
Total War Empires (Will be an amazing TBS)

I hate to burst your bubble but DFO will never be released. As loads of people have already said DFO will be "released" within 6 months and they still haven't released BETA, let alone a few gameplay videos (yes, I know that a video will arrive next month but one video isn't enough).

Or maybe I'm wrong, I've been a hardcore sceptic since last summer when they screamed "BETA SOON!".

So for needing to make PCs cheaper, I see no problem with having a certain buy-in level for quality PC gaming. It keeps out the kids, rednecks and thugs.
