For the NES I would have to go with Super Tecmo Bowl, Zelda, and Metroid

For the SNES I would have to go with TMNT: Turtles in time, Chrono Trigger, Zelda: link to the past, Super Metroid, Mario Kart, Killer Instict, and Super Mario RPG

I shit a brick when bowser joined my party

-heavy shredd'n
-mappy's quest (a game that creates furries)
-there was a Barby(had a boss made entirely of jewelery that stomped on your plastic bitch face for not being pretty enough iirc) and a little mermaid game that were surprisingly intense too... don't know if I should be mentioning those. hmm

I still play the two systems often, sometimes more often than my consoles and PC games put together. I'm almost due to play through Chrono Trigger and FFVI again, as well as Mario RPG. Super Punch-Out! for SNES is a lot of fun. I usually play through Flashback, Out of this World (Another World EU), Black Thorne, and Prince of Persia at least once a year. Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 for sure. Equinox was a fun game, very hard at times, too.

For NES, I'll occasionally go through Blaster Master, and Contra. I usually beat Super Mario Bros. 2 at least once a month to see how fast I can beat it. Castlevania anyone?

NES: The first dragon warrior game. Such good memories. I was literally playing that game before I could read. I had the dark dungeons memorized because I didn't know there was a spell that gave off light. The hardest part was the beginning when the king would tell the story, then ask if you wanted him to repeat it. I had no clue what it said so I just kept hitting 'a'.

SNES: Mario Kart (I think). Wasn't there a mario kart on the SNES, where it was hella easy to lap the other players and stuff? Or Mario RPG

Saga Frontier is a PSX game. The three Romancing SaGa games were on the SNES, but none of them released outside of Japan, is that what you're thinking of?

Same thing with Suikoden I and II.

Same thing with Suikoden I and II.

Indeed I did mean Romancing Saga, I was playing Saga Frontier at the time so my mind got a little jumbled.

and Suikoden I + II were both released in the US, but indeed they are PSX games.

Leave me alone, I am tired.

Sleep is overrated.

No sleeping all at once is overrated, I sleep 2 hours 6-8 then 30 minutes every 3 hours. I also live in Anytown USA where I enjoy the cool evening breezes with my screen door.

Well since I still own a working NES...

Super Mario Bros 1. While 3 is good, the first is a simple time-filler and still fun to rush through and remember that Bowser's castle used to have those bastard repeating areas until you went the right path route bits.

Bubble Bobble as second. As hard as it is cuddly. Back in the days when games where both universally friendly and universally challenging.

For the SNES (which sadly no longer works for me) it'd have been DKC 1/2,Stunt Race FX and A Link To The Past.

Pardon the bump, but I'm looking for a suggestion. More on where to start than on what to play in general. I'm mainly looking at these:
Star Ocean. I have a save file that is probably around halfway through the game, but I don't remember the plot at all, so I'd be starting again. I suppose that's worth noting.
Tales of Phantasia. I've got a recent save file that is about an hour in, again worth noting.
Romancing SaGa (one of them, probably 3). Haven't played a moment of any of them.
A later Tales game (though that would make it unrelated to this thread, I don't think this alone makes this post deserve its own thread or a necro of an older thread). I've played Symphonia to completion and have played no others.

Thoughts? They don't have to be one of those if you think any other idea is tremendously better, though I've already played many of the suggestions that have been made (the FF games, the Mana games, Zelda, EVO, Chrono Trigger, etc.)

This.
Looks like I'll probably go down this route. A pity Tales of Phantasia's story is so dull and uninspired to start (the main character's hometown and family are destroyed, WAAAH, time to go hide somewhere to prevent dying, OH WAIT YOU CAN'T *insert first encounter with sinister villain and your connection to him*, get imprisoned, escape from prison, that's about as far as I've gotten), because it's got a really awesome combat system. A good ways better than Star Ocean's.

If you haven't yet, Mario RPG is fun. The Paper Mario games are great RPG's too, a little childish but there's also some decent humor throughout.
