Some of you may remember my old thread about my problems with one of my computers (constant Blue Screen of Death ftl). Anyway, today I did a disk formatting and everything went along smoothly. However, when I got everything going (installed drivers and everything) I was going to bring back my mom's e-mail on Outlook Express but didn't find any way to do so.

So fellow forumfallers. Is it even possible to bring back an old Outlook Express e-mail or do I have to create a new one for her?

Go to My Computer and C:

You will see a folder called WINDOWS

Delete it and empty the recycle bin, restart your computer and it will reinstall all of windows pre-existing programs (outlook for example).

are you asking if she can have the same email address? yes she can.

Are you asking if you deleted all of her old emails? yes you may have. Outlook can download and leave a copy on the email server if you want it to though, Express probably has that option too.

Outlook is just a client, be it the full version or express. It is not in itself an email account.

You have to configure the email account inside Outlook. (I'm sure you knew this much.)

Whether its possible to restore the emails themselves depends on various factors, mainly how its setup on the server, and how the client was set to handle the emails.

As someone mentioned you can tell outlook to download the emails and delete them from the server, or you can tell it to leave it on the server and just query the server when she needs to see her emails. If it was set to delete them from the server they are likely gone, though the provider may or may not keep backups.

I tried the program many years ago. It scared the shit out of me by automatically opening the first e-mail in the in-box. If you were using an on-line service like hotmail or gmail, you could read the e-mail online by logging in.

That's what I was about to say.

Even if you live in a third world country you shouldn't even use Outlook. I don't know if you realize how easy it is to sneak a RAT into your comp with Outlook, which may have resulted in your problems before. Get thunderbird, now.

I guess that would be funny if it were even possible to delete your windows folder.

Nope. What I do know is that it's a surname.
