I really don't have time for PS2 games.
Maybe I have way too much time on my hands, but assuming I played each of those games for 50 hours (which seems like a reasonable estimate when everything is averaged together, considering that some of those games are <10 hours worth of play) that would be 500 hours spent. (This is also assuming that I would actually be interested in all those games, which I wouldn't be, more due to personal taste than the quality of the games.) If I was actively interested in all the games (and therefore wasn't burning significant free time forumfalling, etc.) I would be playing at least 20 hours a week, which would have me more or less finishing in 6 months. By then possibly one more interesting game would probably be out, giving me another 50 hours to play, which would take another 2 weeks or so to finish.
So yeah, if all that I had left was multiplayer on games that I'd already played for 50 hours, I'd probably have time for a PS2 game here and there. The lack of backwards compatibility isn't catastrophic, but it's not exactly a good feature. Nor would it have been especially difficult to put it in, by comparison to all the work they put into the console already.
I've forgotten, does the 360 have backwards compatibility to the original xbox?

I don't have time to game on my PS3 for 20 hours a week. Also, Warhawk is good for hundreds of hours really. It's like Counter-Strike, you can keep playing it forever or until its online servers go down and it'll never get old.

I'm convinced Viluin must actually work at Sony or have a good deal of his retirement tied up in their stock. I just cannot fathom any other way that someone could be so vehemently biased towards a company/product. Vitriol towards backwards compatibility? How could that be anything but good?
Unless you have no life I seriously doubt you could even find the time to play PS2 games with all the great PS3 games that are / will be out. I don't even have time to finish all my PS3 games.
The man who was personally responsible for the creation of the PS3 wouldn't even lay it on this thick. If the PS3 was someone's own child, they would not be so over-the-top in their praise. This is like a sitcom where the fathers of the Xbox 360 and PS3 are sitting together, bragging about their respective child and trying to one up each other and the things Viluin says are supposed to the funny parts--the parts that are just completely ridiculous to the point of comicality.
Xbox 360's daddy: "And lil' 360, he's even backward compatible. Why, yesterday, I was playing Morrowind."
PS3's daddy: "Oh, yeah? Well...well, I don't even have time to play any PS2 games with all the great PS3 games that are / will be out. In fact I DON'T EVEN HAVE TIME TO FINISH ALL MY PS3 GAMES!"
Then, later, Xbox 360's daddy will come over and PS3's daddy will have to rush to the store and buy every PS3 game he can find because he's actually only got three games at home. He'll be in such a hurry he'll end up grabbing games like Barbie Riding Club and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's Fun-time Adventure, which will make for some awkward explanations. Then he'll only have three save games on his hard drive and he'll have to make up excuses for why he never saves any of his other games--speed runs or something equally ridiculous. Eventually, his wife will come in and freak out, screaming how they "Can't afford all these news games because sales aren't meeting the projected benchmarks" and blow the entire thing, even though he wasn't fooling anyone from the get-go. Hilarity ensues or not--it kind of depends on the writers.
Then there's the emotional scene where Daddy comes to grips with the fact that his child doesn't have to be the greatest and the best and he can love him for who he is. Except, in our case here, the dad just plugs his ear, closes his eyes and screams marketing ploys until everyone leaves and he can go back to gently holding his little child and whispering in his ear, telling him how he is the greatest child in the world. The kid will develop a superiority complex and have trouble making friends, since people won't worship him.
Eventually, he will get out in the real world and move in with some college room mates where he will learn that his poo does, in fact, stink and he will come to grips with his own mediocrity. Xbox 360 could cameo as the captain of the college football team with the Wii as the popular sorority girl or something. It could make for a nice spin off but it probably wouldn't do as well as the original show, as it doesn't have the same feel that drew people in at first. However, whenever anyone criticizes it there will be the rabid fans carried over from the first show screaming about how "IT'S JUST AS GOOD! IT'S JUST DIFFERENT! WHY ARE YOU SO DUMB?! THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD EPISODES THAT I DON'T EVEN HAVE TIME TO GO BACK AND WATCH MY DVD's FROM THE ORIGINAL SERIES!" and I suppose we will have come full circle then.
To sum up: Viluin, if sales of Sony products don't have wide-reaching repercussions in your life, then you are mentally imbalanced.

Then how many hours a week do you play it?
Also, I already provided a retort to that argument. Playing multiplayer on a great game on which I've already clocked 50 hours is pretty fun, but it's not so fun as to make it not be worth my time to go back and play a PS2 game now and then.

Well, I've presented a rational argument supporting my position, and you just disagree with it flat out. I guess we should just agree to disagree, but you should also stop thinking that your opinions about the PS3 and its games (or even games in general, apparently) apply to everyone, because they don't.
'Course, now that you're writing one liners, I'm starting to think you just get in these threads for the +1s.

Viluin, I really don't think it was necessary to quote my entire huge, long post. I probably would not have forgotten about it by the time you posted. Simply addressing me would have sufficed, kind of like I am doing here.
I once wrote an entire thirteen volume saga about the taste of flour; so, really, that was nothing.
Seriously, though, let us in on the secret, man. Are you one of those plant marketing guys, paid to get established in online communities and then wonk for products? Or is the PS3 actually some bio-mechanical monstrosity, the product of some unholy union between man and machine and you are the being that sired it? I'm thinking the former, however, I've seen enough episodes of the X-Files to not write-off the latter.

You are assuming that any game you play becomes less fun after 50 hours. There are exceptions. Unless you have ADD maybe.

Actually, I wasn't. My assumption was that, between those 10 games, the gameplay value would, on average, diminish or cease to exist after about 50 hours of gameplay. Some of them, like Warhawk, might have a lot more; others, like Uncharted (your own post said Uncharted has about 6 hours of gameplay unless that was a typo), would have a lot less. But in the end, after those 6 months of gaming at my pace, it would become worthwhile to hop back to a classic game now and again, in between time spent on multiplayer. Or I could fill some of that time with an MMOG. Diversity is good in gaming; play one game too much and you're going to get bored, naturally.

I haven't gotten bored of Warhawk. I never will, at least not until Warhawk 2 is released. It's the type of game that becomes more and more fun the more you play it.

IIRC they said they would make a sequel. That's all I know. It'll probably be here eventually.. Until then, the first Warhawk remains the best online game on a console.

Wait, msg is a game? I always figured it was a sort of lame interactive movie. You know, watch 10 minutes of cliche, predictable, and repetitive cut scenes and then as a interlude a few minutes of game play.

The PS3 isn't dead. It still has God of War 3, MGS 4, GT 5 (the actual full game),
Little Big Planet, and it still has FF. Its not like its a 360 exclusive. Sure the 360 has great exclusives, but so does the PS3. So if you have both, like me, this is one of the best years to own a console. Resistance 2 and Gears of War 2 in the same year, man I'm in gaming heaven.

Lol, pure blasphemy. Metal Gear Online is probably the most entertaining online experience I've had in a while. The only problem I have is the skill cap per character should have been higher.
